thought i would Share the news with you guys on here in case you didn't hear about it!...the letter from the dealership reads:

Our records indicate your Vehicle may be involved in a General Motors Recall in which if the engine fails to start and the driver holds the key in the "Start" position for an extended Period, a high current may flow through the ignition switch and possibly cause a fire in the Steering column.

This Condition could happen with the engine off and the Key removed

You may also be recieving notification in the near future from General Motors themselves!

EDIT: My car was a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT Coupe

How can you hold the key in the "Start"
position if you have that key removed?

they just said that fire could start if you keep the key in the start position when cranking, cuz too much current could burn it up, and then they just said that the fire could ALSO start if u had no key in there ignition thats all

LOL, meaning the fire won't go out if you take the key out??? Really?

Or better yet, get those car thieves, I bet they won't count on the car igniting.

:D
