View Full Version : How often do you change the air filter?

I just changed mine and I noticed an increase of power from a stand still and when driving in traffic. I do live in the desert where it dusty but I only put about 7K miles on the old filter (about 1 year of driving, the car is my weekend driver only). I put it up to a light and could still see light through it a couple of weeks ago but I did notice a little sluggishness setting in, So today I replaced it. The difference in power was very apparent...
So bottom line of this thread is how often do you change yours?

When its dirty. But I run K&N so I just clean it.

I changed mine recently and noticed a increase too. The old one was a year old.

I would change (or clean & re-oil my K&N) air filter once per year; along with also changing the PCV valve (only applies to the 3400 engines).

I put about 8 to 10,000 miles on it before a change, less miles if its more dusty.

Depends on how dirty it is. Usually every oil change or every other oil change (assuming it's the crappy paper ones). If it's a K&N I clean it once, maybe twice a year.

Are we talking about drop in or cone? I have drop in and I cleaned mine after 20,000 miles. It was pretty dirty.
