reminds me of a GP or new bonneville.... the front sticks out way to damn far... dont mine the sides or rear, but looks like ya gots to go ribless.... spoiler blows, but, maybe a modified AAS front and an low *** wing.. mix it up and it might be ok, but noway all rksport...

Ok, this has got to be someone's car that the dealership just did the body work for. I dont see a window sticker on it.... I have heard that the Grand Am GXP or the American Tuner was coming to dealers this spring but I figured with GM it wouldnt ever happen. Where did you get these pics? Also I noticed that it doesnt look like it has a license plate, looks like a dealers plate, and that exhaust is not stock.... Do you know where this dealership is at?

i was thinking along the those exact lines...if i could find a way to get the aas front to not flare out on the front i was gonna talk to my body guy about filling the 4 holes in the front and doing something like that on my car.

Yeah, the front sticks out too far for me to like. I personally like short overhangs, so that is unappealing to me. Otherwise, the rest of the car is HOT!!! It looks good.

It needs taller tires and the wheel/rim needs to have more offset so it will stick out just a bit more.

i dont know how its an 04, the 04's have xm radio antennas on the roof and that one doesnt.
Thats interesting, it looks okay. I think the GM version looked much better though, wasnt as bulky. Nothing that id put on my car though, and i agree with the majority the spoiler is gross.

I think the only part of the kit that should be able to be on the car are the side skirts. The front just doesn't look like it fits correctly and flows with the car. I guess it all depends on what it looks like in person. Definitly doesn't look like it's forsale though.

I'm all over this car like a fat kid with cake.
Seriously, this kit is pretty nice I must say. I like the spoiler...could use that alero one, but it would probably take away from the original design of the kit.
I don't see a sticker on the car...maybe it's in for service?? Are they shipping these kits yet?

The bumpers themselves are really light. What is heavy?
I really like the kit, and not just becaust I bought it. I see 60 year old women with the exact same car as me driving around all day, and it p*sses me off. I won't see any RK grandma's now, and I like the sleek look. It's sweet.

I am just stating that they look heavy(heavier than whats on our car now) Look is the key word, cause i dont know the weight of those and never seen it in real life, but since you have that kit on your car, i guess your opinion is really fact as far as any weight issue is concerned.

Ya know.... some of you people just cry like little babies. Grow the F up already! I don't like this and I don't like that. WAH WAH. And you wonder why they don't make parts for these cars. First it was "man I wish someone made clear tails for my car" and now there are three kinds available and everyone's whining about them. Then there where body kits. Everyone had a problem of some sort with this or that kit. Now a GOOD kit gets made by a GOOD company and you guys can't do anything but complain. As for practicality or being heavy, gimme a break. It's made of injection molded urethane. It's only 1lb heavier than the stock bumper (I weighed it myself) and it's flexible enough if you hit something with it, it's not going to crack like fiberglass. How much more practical can you get for a non-stock body piece? Besides, if you want the ultimate in practicality you shouldn't be modding your car. You should leave it stock.
As for fitment, this is the best fitting kit I've seen yet. Since the pieces are flexible you can match them up perfectly to your car. The "dent" where it meets the fender is supposed to be there. It was designed that way, because the stock fender curves in there, but the bumper flares out to give the car a wider look, so it has to curve back in to meet the fender and leaves a small dish. Looks fine IMO. The bumper sticks out further because it is longer and more angled to give the car a more sporty appearance similar to an F-body. At least it doesn't have a shelf nose like the AAS kit. Personally I think it looks badazz with the overhang over the headlights. Looks kinda like eyebrows. The wing looks kinda good, like the old muscle car spoilers. I think they were trying to avoid the taller wings that sit off the trunk surface since you guys always call them r i c e. So they make a non-r i c e wing and you guys don't like it?! Well, it's all a matter of personal taste, and the wing doesn't do it for me either (even if I think it doesn't look bad), so I ordered a different one I think will look good with the kit. Personal tastes aside, this is IMO the best quality, best looking, and most fairly priced body kit made yet. You guys need to just grow up!

Hard to tell, but it does look kinda like SLP. That would be most likely. I'm betting that car is either owned by someone at the dealership, or someone bought the car new and asked them to do that work to it before they delivered it. I doubt they would spend all that money on it just to sit it out there for sale.
BTW H.O., I like your sig. That gave me a laugh.:)

Yep, it sure is the best body kit around. I just don't like how far the front bumper sticks out. But the design of the front bumper, side skirts, rear bumper, and moldings are very good. Fitment is superb. Very sleek looking. I like the ribless look. Kinda has a racing look to it.

You can't get Satellite Radio in Canada, period. Dorks at the Canadian version of the FCC didn't approve it. It works here, but you cannot buy it here.

Gotta have DRLs and metric gauge clusters. Some stupid symbols are different too (for the GA gas gauge it says "F" and "E" instead of the full/empty circle, etc).
A lot of cars have different option packages. Some make sense (ie: a "winter" package), but some force you to get certain options regardless, simply because the car market here is 1/10th the US market.
Canada didn't have Mitsubishi until a couple years ago, and there are US cars you can't buy here (GTO for example).

here is an update, it is for sale for outrageous 43K CAD..whats that like....32 US? anyhoo..i checked out the kit and i must say, my opinion on it has changed! Its awsome! fit and finish is excellent! i took a bunch of pictures, i will post those when i get home, at school right now. definately the most sporty looking kit, i love it now, thinking going to get it when the 4 door version comes out! its slick as hell, and uses ur front fender liners :) i took pictures of everything, its a 2004 for sale. I talked to the young guy there and this is the first kit in canada, because they pushed the manufacturer to give them the kit before an auto show, so its first one. Can't wait till i know the price for a 4 door, and if gm doens't release the american tuner kit, this is definately the kit i am going to get. The nose doesn't even look bad in person! it looks really really sporty

That is true..
Have all the body kits gone through such blunt scrutiny? I wasn't on the boards when the *** and AAS kits were introduced, were they bashed and picked apart also? Just wondering...
And, what hood is on this GA? Not SC/T, is it?
luniz
03-19-2004, 12:11 AM
AAS kit received the most scrutiny out of them all. But that doesn't matter because when it is constructive criticism it is productive in a way where companies can learn from it. If they don't produce more things for the GA, well then that is there fault. Because if the majority of owners really liked a product, then they would buy it if they had the necessary means. Plus I don't think any of the comments on this thread were necessarily bashing the kit persay, just merely stating their own opionion which everyone is entitled to.

just a pet peeve I have, I prefer aquaintances refer to me as smoke, you can call me by name in person ;) .
No, sorry, im not in touch with the "community" enough to even care about the grand am, or body kit for that matter. I dont mod, and these are only my beaters till I get my Cobra, if I hear something ill be sure to post up..... But I do hope that they recruited someone this time that actually invests care into their ride, and not someone with a bent frame or otherwise likr person X.
One more time because I didnt say it loud enough the first time:
"im not bashing this kit, in fact I havent said anything negative about it, im just asking q's before considering it"
any kit means better aftermarket, and additions influence more competition= lower prices in the market...... so thats nothing but a plus, however everyone is entitled to their opinions without backlash from supporters..... lets not forget that
;)
oh... and I got rid of the laser surgery pun because predictably, it wasnt even comprehended

Who ever said anyone was bashing the kit? I didn't. I said scrutiny, not bashing. I am not really worried about it anyway. Eblend said the kit is awesome in person in reguards to both style and fitment, and the unpainted kit looks flawless to me. Won't be long 'till it's all on.

jsut to let you guys know about the rims, if you look at the very first thread about this kit, when it was first introduced, you will notice the rims look very similar, maybe even the same, just these are chromed out.

get any good pics of where the hood and bumper meet, looks like a over hang, :O( hopefully not. thanks

I thought the SC/T hood had the scoops running straight up the hood, not at an angle. Anyways, I like how that hood goes with the RK. I need to get myself one..

Eblend said there really are no poor fitments. I'm sure it's just shadow. He said it looks damn good in person.

$21000 sticker, $1500 trade in, $3000 cash back and that brings it down to $16,500...... and I dont work for GM/pontiac..... and not a dime came out of my pocket :)
well mr. :asshat im proud to tell you that mommy and daddy didnt put down a single penny for my car nor have they paid any insurance for me. and being 17 years old i didnt have a previous pos to trade in for a measely $1500. im pretty sure your car came pretty bare with no options as the sticker was only 22k for yours. btw you said you have a gt. im calling bs. if my memory serves me correctly you were bragging in a previous taillights thread that you cleared your SE TAILLIGHTS and put an *** lens on it. which comes to my next point. ^ earlier in this thread you stated you dont mod your car ... well buddy youve been bragging about your tails and even tho im only 17 im pretty sure thats a mod. i think my 4 grand extra for my 26k ga is money well spent for my gt instead of your se, and maybe an sc/t package which i kno you dont have on your se. i believe i have the 30th anniversary package as well on my car. as for your avatar, i have two power hx2's juss chillen in my trunk waiting to blow your **** away.

yea srry it went off topic. ne ways the rk kit looks really sharp. doubts on how far the front end sticks out. but pictures never give a car justice, ill just wait until aaron gets his kit on to really see for myself.

I would have had my kit on by now if the 4-door kit was out. I was told it is another 4-6 weeks out. I am ready to get it in and put it on. I like everything about the body kit. :)

For people questioning the fitment of this kit, let me just say I've test fitted the front bumper on mine already and it fit just as well as the stock bumper. That is to say, any problems with hood gap or fitment around the headlights were no worse than they were with the stock bumper because of GM's crappy rubber seals around the headlights.;)
Luniz.... the whole point I was trying to make before was that when the first pics of this kit came out everyone said they loved it and wanted the kit to get made and wanted to buy one.... and now that it's out everyone's ragging on it. This seems to be a disturbing trend I've seen with several other new products that came out. Some people on this board are never happy with anything. It's always the same ones, and I'm sick of listening to them. Try not to be an a$$hole about it next time. :p (I don't like being called a hypocrite, how do you like being called an a$$hole? Not nice... is it.)

yeah what the hell does any of this have to do with your little thread here? I thought we cleared up the *fitting* issue about a whole page ago? or did it take a whole day for the posts to register in your brains? congratulations, you highjacked your own thread. Here we go again..........
For the record, who said anything about my SE?
Get the semen out of your ears and listen again, loud and clear this time...... I HAVE 2 GRAND AMS 2001 silver..... paid off SE...... and a 2003 white GT...... which I think is the one you were refering to, and just for the record, I didnt pay 22K for it, I payed 21K;) ..... I know its hard to believe that you got raped on the deal, and I got every option execpt those aformentioned. Some people fortunately excel in finances, others like you my friend do NOT..... enroll yourself..... get a couple of bachelors, and then maybe we can talk but until them, I cant really understand the jizm thats coming out your mouth. Do I need to post pics as well of my vehicles, or can we all be adults here and take my word for it ?
am I really a sh-thead? you guys hurt my feelings :violin
why dont you post replys that are actually worth reading? until then I advise you sit in the corner like a good little boy on a time out, and let the adrenaline rush your feeling subside....... The sad part is my 3 year old behaves MUCH better than 75% of the people I see on this board, not to mention comprehend. Are we all tough guys now......... "e-thugs"..... isnt that what theyre called around here? I suggest yall lay off the sauce and pipe down.
anyone else need some clearing up?
and for the fool who commented on the HX2's, I had 2 12's in the back of my saturn (the piece you refered to in my trade in ;) ) and they BY FAR did not meet the specs of ONE of my W6's........ make sure you do your homework next time before you pop at the mouth. Do I need to be an "audio guru" to be taken seriously?
now that your done showing me what big cahones you have, you should get to your nearset JL dealer, and get rid of that crap youve got in your trunk ;)........ im through with you..... your now dismissed
for the last time before someone stirs the pot again... if you got personal problems, ive got a PM box, AIM sign name, and an address LIKE EVERYONE ELSE HERE!..........lets keep it off the boards tough guys........ BACK ON TOPIC!
