View Full Version : Shifter Knob Removal

I did a search but couldn't find anything. Does anyone know how to remove the shift knob from a 99+ GA? The service manuals don't really say (they all refer to the Alero which has a clip that holds the knob on). Any help would be appreciated! I want to put the Bonneville GXP shift knob in my car (someone posted about this before) and I am 99% sure they mount the same.
Thanks in advance!

you need to pull out a big U clip out of the front of the shifter near its base (where the doot meets the handle) use a flat head screw driver and pull out the U clip..then the shift knob will come right off..

Unfortunately there is no clip at the base of the shifter on the GA, only on the Alero.
