This damn beater car is a piece. Was wondering if anybody would know what would cause this. It happens randomly, but usually when slowing down. It just stalls out. it always starts right back up, but it's very annoying. by the way it's an 88 oldsmobile cutlass cierra

I would guess that it's a vacuum leak. When you slow down or stop, your brakes run off the power brake booster which works on vacuum. So if you have a vacuum leak and you use the brakes, it robs more vacuum and the car can stall.
Just my guess.

that sounds almost right. but sometimes it even happens when cruising down the highway, accelerating. it probably still could be that though. how do i go about diagnosing this, should i look for any main vaccuum lines that may be cracked???

those things have a distributor??
totally different car, but my lebaron used to do that, theres this thing inside the distributor called a pickup, used to go bad. car would just turn off randomly
yeah inspection of vacuum lines a good idea too :)
