View Full Version : Power Door Locks Quite Working
04-05-2004, 05:42 PM
Just as the subject says, I no longer have power door locks. I checked the fuse, and its fine. I can hear a relay on the driver's side clicking when I try the locks, but it doesnt get anywhere. The car chimes just like always, only the locks wont lock/unlock. Any ideas??

If he's hearing the click, the relay should be working.

maybe it's the actuator (sp?) I think that's what's wrong with my passenger door right now. I hit unlock and all the other doors unlock except that one. teh ghey.

Actual solidoid may be seized or fried. Try a new one or one from another door.

Hearing the relay working is good thing.........

Maybe a broken wire in the "accordian tube" that holds the wires from the body to the door. THis happens alot as cars get older. Need a mulitimeter and test continuity from where the switches are and down around the foot kick panel.

If this is a 1999 GA it has 2 or 3 door lock relays (3 if you have Remote Keyless).
All Door Lock, Driver Door Unlock, Other Door Unlock. They are all located in the left hand IP bussed electrical center, like the fuse. I'll assume you have all 3 relays installed.
Do you hear a relay click when you try to LOCK or UNLOCK?
Are both LOCK and UNLOCK inoperative?
Is UNLOCK inoperative for all doors?
If all this is a yes then I would start by swapping the position of the door lock relay with one of the door unlock relays (they are all the same part). The door lock relay is key to having all doors working
