The brake light on my instrument panel came on yesterday and it's been on since. I just recently replaced the brake pads and my e-brake is not on. I can't use cruise control and I have absolutely no idea what is going on.

Check fluid level.

Also my brakes are squeeling a little bit...would low fluid cause that too?

No shouldn't cause sqeeling. Probably a metalic resin built up on your rotors. Did you have them honed when you replaced your pads??? YOu don't actually have to get them cut, just resurfaced to prevent squeeling.

I'm not sure I understand???

Under alot of light braking, a build up occurs on your rotors. When you replace your pads, you should have them re finished so that the new pads work to their maximum ability.

Oh...there's no buildup.
