Looking through the forums, I've noticed that there are a significant number of people who have had problems with the lower intake manifold gasket (me still being a n00b, I thought this would be the place to ask this).

Does anyone know if this problem has been corrected on the newer model 3400's, or is this something that will affect the entire model year range?

TIA!

The gasket was "redesigned" in 2003 sometime. Also with the gasket comes new LIM bolts that are supposedly only different because they come with thread locker on them. In any event, since you have a 2004, you have a warranty for 3 years, 36000 miles so hopefully if it decides to go during that time, you will be ok. Just watch for the typical signs -- antifreeze mixing with your oil, antifreeze leaking from the side of the cylinder head or from under the throttle body and creating a big puddle on the trans bell housing and possibly a low coolant light.
