well now my car has 62 thousand odd miles on it also with new tranny n such other engine components, but a prob came to me that the ses light came on and that it seems that my car now misfires when i reach to about 50 mph, and that the service engine soon light comes on when this happens and it blinks for about 20 seconds and then goes away but then comes back on, blinks then goes away. and liek the engine seems to stutter when i accelerate. ......but i also have the dirt cheap AIT override with the ohm resistor stuck in the AIT sensor.....and i also took out the MAF screen..........but i was just wondering that if those lil mods that i did could result in what i explained up top??? and about the service engine soon........enyone kno about this or has happend to u........sumne plz help me or explain if this is whats causing the ses light to come on ????

A flashing SES indicates a misfire. Take out that IAT crap and see if it goes away.

yea i had just took it out when i got home....but thats leik the only ghetto mod that i had in it so far...

Flashing SES doesn't just mean a misfire...it means it's misfiring on at least 15% of firing oppurtunities. Meaning the cylinders are getting very hot...and that's bad.

well waht would cause the cylinders to get hott???besides the engine running

He also told me that he has fairly new plugs in (since in last year). I questioned maybe a dirty/clogged injector or 3.

plug wires are a possibility also

You may also want to check the O2 sensor. Both mine and my buddy's Malibu's O2 went out at about that same mileage +/- 70k with similar symptoms.

yea i jsut got it looked at 2night.... it was cylinder 3 that was ****ed up...but the mechanic liek touched sum wire or put it back in and it went back to normal..but on the lil test thing it showd that 2 cylindes seemed a bit clogged.. so i need to get the fuel injectors cleaned and the wires rerouted.

but i got a new o2 sensor put in last summer so that stay fine for a long time
