Not sure if this belongs in the "HOW TO" section or the "All Show" section....but I think it better fits here...so here it is, directions courtesy of n-body.net on how to clear your AC knobs...this is a great mod, takes some time and effort, but well worth it, the results are great, it looks awesome at night.

Remove the knobs from the climate control panel. Simply pull the knobs straight off (they may be stiff, but they will come!).

Use a hair dryer to heat the glued edge along the backside of the knob. You will see that the knob is clear(red in 99+ Grand Ams), but has a grey vinyl covering over it.

After heating, simply pry along the edge of the circumference of the knob, prying the grey vinyl away from the clear plastic.

Once removed, you may wish to paint the knobs (Or keep them the clear red). If you apply a light coat, the light will shine through and illuminate the knob.

On the more recent models (like my 2002 GAGT1) it's actually very hard to pull the rubber off. I used a Dremel tool instead with a sand paper head, it went great.

I then used the polishing head to smoothen the surface and then I wet-sanded the knobs using 1000 and then 1500 grit sand paper. Once all that was done I used Witeout to put the indicator lines back on and then applied 4-5 coats of clear-coat.

I don't have any pictures yet but it looks great! :)

99grandamse over at www.n-body.net has posted this picture of his cleared knobs:

Mine looks a lot like that but with the white lines :)

He used the Dremel method too.
