Since the old forum was lost, I remember there are some installation tips/tricks/things to watch out for when installing an Eaton/Magnuson blower. I don't recall them exactly, so to the existing boost brothers, post up!

I had to lengthen the slotted holes in the vacuum adapter to make it fit my manifold. Also, make sure you trim plenty off the radiator hoses. I trimmed mine the recommended amount and they still rubbed. One of the hardest parts is getting the 3 holes in the support bracket lined up with the holes in the outlet casting. The tolerances are very tight and they need to be lined up perfectly or you might cross-thread one. BTW, if you do you'll need a 8mm x 1.25mm hole tap to fix it. I had to install mine in a different order to get it to work. First, put the elbow onto the SC outlet with the silcone coupling (leave the hose clamps loose). Second, slide the drive shaft support bracket over the stud in the cylinder head and slide the SC into position. Third, line up the holes in the support bracket with the holes in the outlet, carefully install the bolts and tighten them to 18-20ft/lbs with a torque wrench. Do not over tighten as that may strip the threads! Also, install the nut on the cylinder head stud and tighten to 40-45ft/lbs. Fourth, Line up the 2 holes in the elbow with the holes in the intake manifold and install the bolts. You may need to pry up on it with a screw driver to get them to line up. Again, be careful not to cross-thread them and don't over tighten. Last, tighten the hose clamps on the coupling, and your SC is now mounted.:)

Damn AaronGTR, you are a never-ending plethora of neato information. But seriously... there is one critical aspect you need to remember, matt, when the wires start showing on your tires, they are going to adversley effect your performance. Here's looking out for you kid. :D

Soooo, uh...Matt...

Any specific reason you want to know what to watch out for when installing a SC? :D

He bought ALPINE99GTs SC from him. I guess Matt couldn't resist an extra 50-60hp:D :D

Well, assuming that his other mods didn't just do jack, this should be one fast ass alero.

I guess the cat's out of the bag...I was planning on being a sneaky stinker like my idol SPAZ...

But seriously, thanks for the offer...I just may take you up on that, Wayne (the phone call, anyway....IL to CT is a long hike...).

A hefty congratulations to you on your awesome 1/4 mile runs!

I dunno....I don't plan on going burnout crazy - Potenza S-03's are too expensive to be doing burnouts on....they especially wouldn't last long with the alignment (negative camber) settings I run....I'll still need a smaller pulley to keep up with you and your Vortech next year though.... :boogie:

Actually, with the smaller pulley I'm getting and a custom PCM tune from DHP, it should be closer to a 80-90HP jump....I just couldn't resist. It will be interesting to see how the SC likes TOG headers.

Sounds like you are gonna have one fast car after this is done with. Look forward to seeing you and your car again, keep up the good work.

Matt,

All I can say is - "It's about time!" :D

TIPS...

Thermotec Wrap the spark plug wires. SC shaft burned nicely thru my MSDs, took a while though. Also, watch the other hoses you must run around the SC, they will melt if they remain in contact, as you know - I wrapped them as well.

Make sure that the SC Pulley aligns properly with the pattern on your other pulleys. If that is off then you risk blowing out the bearings in the SC shaft.

Watch the fpr. Make sure it is not leaking, and don't lose the O-ring in that sucker!

When you swap pulleys make sure you use a pulley puller and not some other haphazard method. Make sure to use anit-seize, and make sure not to lose the key. If you misalign the pulley removal then see above fgor the negative result. Putting the new pulley on is easy, don't crossthread of course, and make sure all aligns properly as above.

Remember to get new sparkies! And use the CAI for more midrange HP!

*I think you will be fine,

I also found that lots of silicone vaacum hose and the flexible SS radiator hoses are really nice for heat resistance and durability. They look really nice too. I replaced all my lines eventually, and it would probably be easier to do with the install.
