View Full Version : HOW TO: Make angel eyes
I don't have detailed instructions yet because I am still making the angel eyes...but here are some pics of the progress. I will update this once it is done (most likely tomorrow or Friday).
I used one of them rods for window blinds. $1.60ish at Wal-Mart (I bought 2 because I had a feeling I would screw something up). I boiled it, and wrapped it around that can in the picture, which was a good size. I cut the extra crap off. Then I cut a buncha slits in it...so the leds will shine all the way around (I tested this already...it works). Leds are expensive....$5.00ish a piece... :(
I still need to pick up the resistors and maybe a couple more leds. I have some wire around the house somewheres and I will need a switch (because I want one lol).
One of the attached pics shows the before and after slits in the "eyes."

Your first problem is buying the LEDs from radioshack. I did that once, and spent over $7 on 5 3mm blue LEDs, which SUCKED. the LEDs were dull and cheap. a day later i bought a lot of 100 from some guy in china off of ebay for $10 shipped and they are the best LEDs i've ever seen. Super bright, long-lasting, and priced at $0.10 each, they were a very good value. On the progress though, it looks cool! Keep it up! and keep us updated
Hrmm...I'll check online then for leds...and return these...because I WAS getting 4 at first...he rang it up and was like $22.xx and I **** my pants....he did too...he didn't think they were THAT much.
If anyone knows of a good place online to order good LEDs that would rock.

Yeah...marcriedel game me a link on ebay. 100 leds and 100 resistors for $25. Free shipping.
I bought them lol. I'll sell the extras for cheap if anyone needs some.

and your using the angel eyes for?......
I am putting them in the fog lights....Instead of paying $55 for them, I figure some people might have these parts laying around the house...and a "How To" sounded good.
I tried searching before posting this up...but I guess if others have posted this stuff before (how to that is) then my searching skills here suck.
[edit] Notice the fog light on my counter in the pic above. This is for an appearance thing, not for "look I can see the road better."

I actually got the idea from somewheres also. It was to do with a Honda I think. Maybe I got the link here...I really don't remember. I am on 2 or 3 forums usually...here, gaownersclub, and [H]ard|Forum.

hahaha, oh well, I could have figured it out the hard way, but I did that enough in school and then college. Its not hard or anything, just boring.... Try something harder next time, make someone do some base math, not involving 2,8,10, or 16, then you have better answers, no calculators, or atleast someone would actually have to work to find a base N calculator.
yes, i realize this thread is OLD but heres a video showing you how to make angel eyes:

After making the angel eyes as shown in the video, how does one go about mounting them in the headlight unit?
Thanks.
