How do you remove the gear shift boot from the stalk? I can't figure it out and don't want to break it. :/

It just slides off the shifter knob. Then pull the trim ring off the shifter and I think a few screws or clips removes the boot.

shift it down into 1st. look at the front of it. theres a metal clip in there. pull it out with some needle nose plyers.

Oh! You want to remove the knob! Yeah ... what cavingman said. You can also pry it out by pushing a small flat-head screwdriver between it and the plastic housing.

Got it. Thanks guys. Now it's time to buy an aftermarket shift knob. :)
