Dropped my car off at Midas today to have a custom catback done for my car. Guy at the shop said he wouldn't run 2.25" piping because he said it would rattle. I know all the aftermarket systems run 2.25" piping, so is he pretty much full of b.s.?? I mean, I'm pretty sure I'm running a risk of it rattling, but I'm almost positive he's just covering himself. Anyone else have rattle issues with 2.25" pipes? Right now I'm searching for a good shop in Indy that WILL do the work (in case anyone happens to know of one).

Also, would the SLP exhaust fit the 2.4? If I keep getting denied by muffler shops, I might just have to pay for something premade.

stock on the SE and Alero (GX at least) is 1 7/8 but 2.25 will not rattle when installed right. It is BS, find a better place, and not a chain store.

my 2.5 done by midas rattles... but im sure its due to a $hitty install. i took it bacc there 6 times now and it still rattles. it goes away for like a day when they 'fix' it, then comes bacc. you just gotta make sure its a good place, since they are bending the pipes themselves.

I guess I'll just try another place besides the "generic" muffler shops.

Okay, now I'm getting ****ed. Another shop that does more custom work said 2.25" piping won't work either. WTF???

Is there something different with the 2.4 SE's that makes bigger pipes not fit?? I thought the SLP with 2.5" piping had been rigged up on the 2.4 before. Also, would stock GT piping that's 2.25" fit if that's a second alternative?

2.25" pipes are fine, but 2.5" pipes require careful positioning to avoid rattles.
