Rob took this at Milan during the GAP... quick demo of what the SLP exhaust sounds by driving by, idling, taking off.... The fly-by doesn't catch it all the way because I let off the gas before I passed, but you still get the point

Did it calm down over time or does the video not reproduce sound well? I heard Dynabrian's(you back after the fatal server crash of '02?) SLP shortly after it was installed and it was pretty friggin loud. Does it settle in? Get louder? Stay the same?

Either way, cool video.

It was more raspy when I first got it, it mellowed out... definitely still has some volume to it tho.

see, i thought mine became more raspy as it broke in. i got it in november and now i think it has become more loud and sounds much better.

As with any exhaust system, I would think it would mellow a little bit with more and more carbon build-up, but then again, if it gets too quiet for you, change something  Mine mellowed a very small amount before I "changed" it...

anyone know what the best exhaust for a 2.4 woudl be? magnaflow, slp, dynomax, flowmaster, or borla? any one got any sound lcips form 2.4?

It would get louder over time, most exhausts use fiberglass batting aka glasspacks (does R-13 pink panther ring a bell construction/contractor people?) the moisture and other crap in your exhaust wears away the batting then it doesn't muffle as good anymore. That costcutting would make the difference.

On another note I heard the SLP Loudmouths on a Trans Am firebird and it sounded like a speed boat!

their a magnaflow exhaust clip surfin around here somewhere. just search for magnaflow exhaust, or magnaflow exhaust clip. something like that. it was on a 2.4

I don't think the SLP has any fiberglass batting in it, unless they changed it. I looked in mine before I mounted it and you can pretty much see straight through the muffler, it just has a perforated stainless steel core that runs through it, that's it.

it's not what's in the way, it's what's between the outside layer of steel and that "stainless steel core" that's where the fiberglass would be. It's there to absorb the vibrational radiant noise from the exhaust (all the sound waves perpendicular to the pipe) vs. noise shooting straight back.

Again, I could be wrong about the SLP construction, but when looking inside I could actually see very clearly through the steel core and all the way to the sides of the muffler case itself. Unless I was missing something, or the fiberglass was invisible(Just kidding) then there isn't any glass in the SLP. I do understand the purpose of fiberglass matting and the fact that many mufflers use it, which was why I was looking inside the muffler in the first place because I was curious how it was made.

You guys won't believe how many times I listened to that video. I still find myself listening to it while my car is in the shop. Its been like two freakin weeks without my car. Tonite is going to be like x-mas eve when I was little. Needless to say, I won't be sleeping much.lol

Thanks Seth, for getting me through this terrible, terrible time.

Sounds good...I like the idle sound...my idle is pretty mellow; maybe it'll get better when I get headers, I'm not sure.

Mine sounds like that. I like it after the car has warmed up though. Sounds kinda hollow at low temps. But I love it, We have 3 tunnels in the area...my those tunnels are fun.

Way too cool man, definately the decision maker for me on which exhaust system to go for. SLP all the way! That just sounds so good....great work! Oh yeah, you have an awesome car in every other aspect, too! :-)
