I noticed there is sometimes an oil smell in my heating system. My windshield also keeps getting dirty on the inside and I can't explain why (nobody has ever smoked in my car).
I'm thinking it might be my head gasket that's blown but I only have 22k KMs on the car, could it be it? Where's the easiest place to look for a leaky gasket?

well not sure what ur smelling but i do know whats causing ur windshield problem..if u use armoral or any kind of dash cleaner stuff..when it evaporates, it rises and kinda sticks on the inside of the windshield..which forms a kinda haze on the windsheild which can be wiped off:)

Nope, last time I used cleaning chemicals on my dash was 6 months ago and it didn't do it at the time so I doubt that this could be it.
It's kinda the same as if I had a coolant leak but it smells like oil, not like sugar...

Whether it's oil or coolant, that would mean my gasket is leaking, right?
Hmmmm... if it's coolant you are smelling through the heating system, I'd wonder if it could be a leak/crack in the heater core. Not sure how hard that would be to pull, but I suspect it's not a pretty sight! Good luck! Brad

If you're under warranty take it to the dealer and have them check it out. It's warrantied service so you won't have to pay a dime. As for the film or whatever on the windshield it's normal. Dust in the air and a lot of other air born contaminats will get on the windshield. Just a fact of life I guess.
