I read in a newspaper article (but can't find a link for the article):

GM will offer "...a new remote start feature will debut on a new GM model next year...".

The remote starter option (with a remote key fob with a substantially increased range) will be a factory-installed option that is intergrated with the vehicle safety & security systems, & fully warranted by the vehicle manufacturer.

GM will be the first automaker with a factory-installed remote starter system intergrated with the vehicle, & fully warranted by the vehicle manufacturer.

I dont know about being the first automaker to have it. I did manage to valet park a solara once that had a remote starter in the factory remote.Due to seeing a weird button on the remote I decided to push it and then the the car started it freaked me out when I first did it. The car had a fail safe for people with bad habits of starting the car while it was on,so you dont hear that wonder full grinding sound . This was back in 99. Never parked another car with a factory remote starter after that.

Yeah my uncle also had factory remote start on his lexus LS400-but I think they eventually stopped putting it on there because they said they started experiencing electrical problems. It'll be the first domestic warrantied one tho i think.
