Hey all,
I have an 81 camaro z28 I just got (see other thread) and 3 of the 4 wheels have wheel locks on them. How can I go about taking these things off without the key?

Bring it to a tire place. I think thats you best option. Most of the time they can take em off for yah. I had a wrangler and lost the key... they took mine off no prob.

How much does that cost? Like $10 or something?

I used to have to do that when I worked at NTB. They charged $5.99 a lock.

We had a kit in the shop that was suppose to help get locks off, but 99% of the time I would just pound an impact socket onto the lock and zip it off with an impact gun. Those little wheel lock removal kits are so cheap.

The only time I ever ran into a problem taking locks off was with stud lug locks and spline drive lug nuts.

I'm guessing your 81 camaro has some cheap locks on it though so if you have an impact gun, the socket method is very easy.

Most tire places of master keys, I lost mine years ago and they charged me $5 to remove them. I went to NTB. Sounds like I got a good deal then. :jackson

don't bother with the dealership go to a tire place because the dealership will charge you an arm and a leg and maybe your first born.

Just go to NTB if you don't want to do it yourself.

And they don't have a collection of master key's. They do it exactly how I said.

National Tire and Battery.

Also, sears auto centers and discount tire can do the same.

I don't think we have a NTB but we do have a Tire warehouse in Maine. Along the same line. We are a bunch of back woods hicks that don't get the cool stuff til 3-5 years after the rest of the country. Its almost as bad as Iowa.

Hahaha so true. But its cool if you keep up with the other states, then you know what to expect in a few years :)

I go to Tire Warehouse for all my tire needs =D I'll hit them up once I get the car home.

Oh sh!t, I just rememberd. I can't drive the car home til I get the brakes fixed. Which means I need to hit up a place in NH so I can actually get the wheels off so I can install the brakes.

Hrmmmm....
