Ford Motor Company has stopped production of the 2003 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra due to quality concerns. The Cobra was first plagued with quality problems when the 1999 model was recalled over engine concerns after an article was published by BlueOvalNews. The 2000 model year was canceled, but the 2001 and 2002 Cobra models have been generally trouble free.

Sources at the Dearborn Assembly Plant (DAP), home of the Mustang, have told BlueOvalNews that Ford has been experiencing problems with the Cobra's 4.6L supercharged engine.

Both Ford Motor Company and Dearborn have CONFIRMED that all 2003 Mustang SVT Cobra production has stopped. All Cobras currently made will be released and shipped to consumers after being held at Dearborn since 21 October 2002.

Ford will try and resume Cobra production on or about 15 November 2002. Sources at Dearborn Assembly are reporting that some if not all 2003 Cobra production will be lost - Ford Motor Company refutes that by stating there will not be a loss of production.

I really feel bad about this, I would like to see it keep going to see what else they could do to the car. It is like starting somthing big then just stopping it. But they are the experts and they now best just wish i could have seen more out of that car.

One correction there was no 2002 Cobras as it went straight to 03's The thing is it has more to do to the new Mach1 coming out
and Ford is switching to that model to get them out in Jan/Feb
some time.

Man, you guys to so much §hit about ford. Hello, who else is making a pony car that almost anyone can afford? Did you all forget your darling GM put the boots to ya on that one? And Damn, the most popular trucks on the road are what....

Now Im not as big of a ford fan as I was in my younger days, but I still drive a F-150 and I doubt I will ever own any truck that doesnt wear a blue oval on its grill.

Ford cars on the other hand, well, as you know I have a GA. I guess that says it all.

jakhammer
ps, please chuck small rocks and dont throw them towards the GA.

It might have something to do with the Blue Oval overrating the horsepower. The mustang forums say even though it's rated at 390hp it's closer to 360....still fast, but if you pay for 390 you want 390 right? Just my theory. Here's a poorly written acronym of mine:

F ord
O ver
R ated
D a horsepower

I said it was poorly written....:p

If Ford can keep the 4.6s together under
the boost, the new Cobras will just rule.
Overrated or not, these cars are already
in the high 11s with just minor upgrades.
And for just $35K, that is a good bargain.

I am getting sick of people putting down mustangs when they are the most bang for your buck and will eat most GA's in a heartbeat

The most popular trucks on the road are actually made by GM. Ford may have the best selling line, but GM sells more pickups than anyone. When quoting stats, GMC and Chevy are always listed separately. Combine their sales and the kick butt over anyone.

I read this somewhere else too..it's called "media manipulation" lol
I was talking to my Ford insider (lol) and he said they resumed production...

so Ford should slap some lincoln front ends on the F-150 and make GM crap their drawers. Lets face it, GM cant do it with only 1 truck, they need 2 to take the top of the sales hill. GM must have taken that psych 101 class that Ford elected not to take.

I will give GM one thing on their truck though, they spank Ford in horse power and Fuel Economy. I only wish I could have them in my 150. Thats why my next truck will probly be a lightning. I dont need 4x4 and a lightning will probly get better milage than my ext cab 4x4 anyways (which is about 14mpg on a really good tank).

May I remind you of the Lincoln Blackwood which only suvived (I think) not even one year of production?!?! lol
There's also the Navigator and the new Aviator...

Speaking of fuel mileage...I was reading one of our Truck zines this morning and some guy in the States wanted to find a cheap way to get better mileage- and he drove a suburban (or the like)!!! Too funny...um..trucks aren't usually known for their fuel economy there skippy

The Blackwood was not a real truck though. It was a truck, but a very bad execution of one and nothing even close to a F-150.

Blackwood front end on a F-150, thats what i am talking about, not the stupid blackwood. I wouldnt even own one of those (just like everyone else). As far as the Aviator, I have yet to see any pics of it and dont really know much about it.
