I bought my H&R's and installed them a few months ago, they handle great and my car really looks a lot better lowered, but it still sits to high in the back. What should I do?? they don't ride all that bad, i would hate to have to get intrax, or should I try do cut that bottom coil off?? I know that sounds really bad, but I hate that fender-well gap. And if I did cut them what problems would occur??? Or should I just buy the intrax springs??

well i don't think there really is anything you can do besides buying different springs. i will be lowering my car but it looks like i'll have to go with eibach because of the kit.. i prefer the more aggresive stance h&r offers though.

the back does settle a little bit over time, but I know exactly what you mean. I seriously think it could stand to lose another inch in the back. I thought about buying just 2 coilovers for the back so I could level it out, but that guy will only sell sets of four. Oh well.

With my Eibach springs the back settled after a thousand or so miles. I would say wait to see if that happens enough for you and then if it doesn't get intrax springs.

I have over 5,000 miles on my springs right now, I wish they would settle a little more but I don't think they are going to. I do like they agressive look, but another half an inch or so wouldn't hurt!! Dr_kyle, your car looks pretty good, to me it looks like the back of your car settled slightly more than mine!

Do you think it would hurt to cut one of the bottom coils off??

thanks for all replies!

i agree. The front is really low but he back is still jacked up a bit.

NEVER CUT SPRINGS, its a bad idea, i've seen a guy cut a spring and it ended up thru his tire somehow after he did it, on both front tires, not the back though

put 5 people in the car and go for a ride...this will settle them.

Well, I have Intrax springs, but it took over a year for the rear ones to settle. I'd say just be patient, but I know how hard that is; LOL!

Drop about 5 15's and a huge ass box in your trunk...that should do it. But seriously, if I were you, I'd sell the h&r's on here and buy the coilovers. I think I'm just going to go with intrax though.

just put you a 12" in there or some subs and an amp and that should fix that. That would be adequate enough to lower it another half inch. With the weight of the box, use MDF, and your subs amp and spare tire that should lower it.

Thats the whole reason why they leave you an extra inch to half an inch in the back so you can add subs. If it was all around the same then when some people added subs it would be lower in the back and look like you have a bunch of fat people in your back seat. :D

Yes but weight makes you slower. But I don't care enough to do anything about it right now. I have bigger things to worry about :).

do what ECAP said and load up the car and ride around for a while, this will help them settle much faster.

the reason they are high in the back is because it needs room to move around when car is fully loaded, now if you load the car with 3 adults in the back, man does it ever look sweet

maybe I will load some weight to make it settle. i'll see what I can do. I'll let ya know!

uuhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, you think I could pay some large people to stay in my trunk for like a week or so!:D

lol line your trunk with pastic so you dont get it dirty then get you some cinder blocks and fill your trunk full of em. or a bunch of bricks. Just dont get pulled over and have the cop search your trunk that might look odd lol lol.

I don't think they will settle anymore. Usually after the first 2 weeks they are done settling.

It took a little more than 2 months for my front springs to finally settle!

LOL.......yea......pay them.but the rules would be: dont get out of that car for one sec. for the whole 5 days......leave the car w/ a full gas tank......car in the garage......all doors ( and or windows ) closed......and the car running over nite............they like it....

To tell if they have settled measure your car after you have put your springs on, give it a couple of weeks, then measure it again!

you'll see a slight difference!

yo man, i have exacly the same problem....and i just thought about it, and if we do indeed cut off like a single bottom coil, it will drop the car at least half an inch in the back. now i know ppl say cutting springs is bad and what not, yah it is if you cut your factory spring to lower your ride, cuz factory springs are way way too soft, but if you cut aftermarket springs, and expesially just the bottom coil which is designed to hold the spring tight when the wheel jumps down on a big bump or something, so they are really not that useful, unless u go like thought bumps 24/7. So i figure, the bottom coils are way smaller, so why not just cut the sucker, just one layer, and then it will be enought to look tight. Cuz i don't like the back lowering, i think it can look much better with another inch or so off...and then there is still a sh*T load of room there for the wheel to go even after you fill up your car full of ppl . I got a sub and a big box in my trunk, and i still could loose an inch for it to look good. It does look really awsome when ur trunck is full of stuff and u have a few ppl in the back, looks seweet

i got eibachs and yeah i agree w/ you guys, too high. i have an
87 s- and i cut 5" off the front springs, botttomed out more cuz they are weak but never had a prob with them going through tires, thats almost impossible, there is a spot however for the cut end to go, there are right and wrong spots to put the cut end, i put my springs in myself and cant remember what it looke dlike in there but it shouldnt be a problem.....

i could tell mine settled cuz they started to bottome out..... i dont know what exactly its doing, but i think i need shorter control arm ends... anyone know anything aobut that???? anyways
