View Full Version : 2005 Calendar Submissions

It's getting to be that time of year again. I'm looking to start working on the 2005 GrandAmGT.com calendars so they're hopefully ready for X-mas 2004.

We've learned a few things from last years calendars and have a few more requirements of the submitted pictures. I'll post those below. If you have a sweet picture of your car (not just your car in the driveway), we're talking a killer background, location, lighting, etc. and want to submit it for next years calendar, email it to calendar@grandamgt.com. Ryan and I will go through the pictures, weed out the ones that don't meet the criteria and then post them to have YOU, the members of GrandAmGT.com vote on who's in next years calendar. There are 10 open spots (Ryan and I automatically get our b-day months... it's one of the perks ;-) ) that will need to be filled.

Rules for Submitting:

1. Picture MUST be at least 1024x768 pixels
2. Calendar entries (that were submitted and not used) from last year can be resubmitted assuming they meet the size requirement above.
3. If your email system doesn't allow that big of a file attachment, note in the submission that you have a larger size (see requirement #1) and submit a smaller version of the picture (or store it on a server somewhere and include a link to the full size image).
4. Include your GaGT.com forum name in the email (so we know who you are).
5. Submissions will be taken up to SEPTEMBER 30,2004 (so we have time to vote and get the images ready for print).
6. If you were in last years calendar, you can submit for this years, but you cannot submit the same picture that was already in the calendar.

Any questions, either PM me or email me (webmaster@grandamgt.com).

Email Address to submit pictures: calendar@grandamgt.com

Though I don't think my car will be done anytime soon, I assume no non-SC/T kitted GA's again?

IMHO, that's kind of lame. if people that "won" last year want to submit a pic, that's cool, as long AS ITS NOT THE SAME PICTURE THAT WAS IN THE CALENDAR. not flaming you (guru) or the site at all, just thought that was kind of sketchy. i'm sure people have enough pics that they wouldn't have to send in one that they won with....

anyway, i plan on getting a shot of my car at liberty state park, but i don't think you can get close enough to the water to get a good shot. we'll see though.

If you were in last years calendar, you can submit for this year, but it has to be a different picture.

I'll add that to the list of rules.

last years calendar had non-SC/T cars in it. This year will be the same. It will be a mix of Grand Am's (older generation GA's are allowed to submit as well).

Hmm..I should clarify. I meant kitted as in ***/AAS. The only "kitted" cars allowed are SC/T "kitted" ones, correct?

mr_eh
08-04-2004, 09:56 PM
they are allowed, just no one is gonna vote for ***/ass or any knockoffs there of!

They don't have to be GT's. The members of the site vote on who makes it.

Ill have mine to you guys in less than one week from now. 8/16/04.

So let me get this straight. If I manage to take the sweetest pic possible. It wont make it on the calander simply because I have AAS and *** on my car? I am not one to raise hell but if that is true that is some serious BS.

Any kit except the *** kit will be accepted. And it's not by our doing. We're being proactive and not accepting entries with "his" kit on the cars (mainly because we don't need to deal with his "legal team" for using a picture with an *** kit without his permission). We didn't want it to get to this point, he brought it to this level. Don't complain to us, complain to him.

Well I guess I will just have to get a good shot of the FRONT of my car since that part is AAS. I am glad to see that I built a car that I cant show. What a *(&*&%^*$*(*&($^# that guy is. Not you Jer.......him.

very good thinking on that one, I never thought about that (but then again I didn't think someone would freak out like a douche over SOMEONE ELSE'S CAR being in SOMEONE ELSE'S calendar)

Jeremy...in all honesty, he cannot do jack sh1t. Don't let his BS sway your decisions, that's what they want (I liken it to terrorism). This is a person's car, in which they bought and paid for the kit and installed on THEIR vehicle. He cannot do a damn thing about that person's car being asked to be in a photo op. There are hundreds of cars a month in magazines with aftermarket parts with no name linked to them. These mags are selling for PROFIT too with these pics.

02andahalfgt
08-17-2004, 07:15 PM
Terrorism.. lol I like that.
But it's better off this way. There are more than 12 Grand Ams on this site that look a thousand times better than any with 'that' kit.

pucci, even if u take a full pic with your car, your gonna see most of the front or side of it anyway. u wont really see the back bumper unless you focus on an angle shot from behind the car.

02andahalfgt
08-17-2004, 07:25 PM
I don't like that kit at all, personally I think it's complete crap. I don't feel anything that drastic looks good on a Grand Am, with the exception of the AAS, that's been growing on me for some time.
I'm not biased against people who do like it, it's just not my thing. I bought a GA b/c I like the styling and feel no need to change the overall look of the car.

.jpg and good quality really doesnt belong in the same sentence. Im a graphic design major and i had a class dedicated to file extentions, i know all about .jpg and why that format should only be used for internet pictures, not high quality pictures for a calendar.

Ok, I have a few questions...

Tiff files... my images are over 100 meg, So if we submit some lower res pictures, and they are voted in, can we send the higher quality images on CD afterwords? ( I have been in the printing industry for 8 years, and by no means would let anyone submit a .jpg for me to print for a size as a calendar!)

2nd question... this pictures should be in CMYK format, as mine will be, but should I adjust the pictures as I see fit (lightenss/shadows/saturtion), or do you have someone that will get them ready for print?

last one... Landscpae or Portrait!?!

Hexx

Im not saying jpg is the god of all image compression, because it def isn't. Tiff is the way to go with non-web graphic stuff for sure.

But you know....my image was taken at the resolution I sent it at. It was also already converted to jpg. Converting it to Tiff it totally pointless. You won't gain a higher definition from a picture that started out with less....unless you add stuff manually (like using brushes, changing the lighting, hue, colors, etc) in photoshop or any other real graphic program.

No more images are being accepted. I should have the voting up later this moring.

There will be 3-4 voting threads (we can only do 10 entries at a time in the poll).

Yes, you can vote for multiple cars in each poll. Once you vote in each of the 3-4 voting threads, you cannot vote again (1 total vote entry per thread). You'll see what I mean when I get them posted.
