Ok, about 2 weeks ago, I replaced a failed fuel pump. I couldn't afford a new one, so I got one from a junk yard w/ a 1 yr warranty. earlier this evening, the GA wouldn't start, and again, the fuel pump is the culprit. the only thing i've done to the car recently was installed a mobile lcd, and ran a 4gauge wire from the alternator to the battery. could this be causing the fuel pump to fail?? or is it just a coincidence that the 2 used pumps failed a couple weeks apart? i'd appreciate any helpful input, thanks.

Dude, I went through 3 fuel pumps in a month, and they were new. Of course, you may just be hooking something up wrong...though it is pretty self explanatory. When mine died, I put a new one in that's EVAP port was broken. Replaced it with another new one (warranty), and the damn thing died two days later. #3 is still kicking though. w00t.

It is the complete pump & sending unit, as in your pic. I would never buy parts retail from a dealer. gmpartsdirect.com usually sells at less than half of list price.

Hey ericmad,

Do you happen to have the part# for the fuel pump from gmpartsdirect?

alldatadiy.com shows part# 88957239 gmpartsdirect price = $168
rockauto shows part# 10388880 gmparts= $166

i'm not sure if there was an update at some point.. so if i were you, i would call a local GM parts dealer and check which part is current. good luck. :)

Why don't you buy a $53 pump and sell it for $100. You both make out.
