Just wondering if any of you guys that live in the bay area (CA) have SLP or Borla. I'm about to get one or the other and I'm not sure what sound I want (haven't heard either yet and sound clips dont give me a very good idea). If anyone does let me know if I can drive out to hear it sometime. Thanks,

Luke

Luke, you're in Antioch? I'm in West Pittsburg near Bailey Road and W Leland You've probably seen my car around I'm sure. I work out in Walnut Creek.

Player, I am considering a SLP. Would be interested in hearing yours.

Holy Crudmonkeys! Your car is nice. I go through Pittsburg to go over Kirker Pass all the time but I've never seen your car. I am positive I would remember it if I saw it. That is a really nice SC/T you got there. The only exterior mod I have is red calipers on my red GT. I just bought some G2 tails so you will probably soon be able to really tell me apart from all the Mary Kay cars :P

(BTW dont you just love the HWY 4 commute through Antioch?) :hang:

LukeD

Weird!!!!! I had never seen your car until I looked it up on your website today. Then tonight I saw you for the first time driving through Pittsburg/Antioch. I had just been talking to my friend about "the car I saw online" like 10 minutes earlier, then while driving down Somersville stopped at the intersection at Somersville/ Mahogany I see you and point you out to my friend. You were driving past In and Out Burger and crossing Somersville. I was driving the GA in case you saw me I was the first at the light. Talk about coincidences!

highwayprowlerz
09-05-2004, 01:57 PM
How funny!! We were going to Lowes. I thought I spotted a GT at the light going north on Sommersville. I wonder if that was you.... I bet it was! I had to go pick up some supplies to work on my new headlights.

No, I DO NOT like the commute through Antioch.... teh sucketh.

We should get together sometime.

Player, I am considering a SLP. Would be interested in hearing yours.

I am willing to meet up with you and LukeD if you guys want. I actually wouldn't mind checking out a Gt with eibachs. Did you install them yourself?

highwayprowlerz
09-06-2004, 10:46 AM
That would be awesome. As for the Eibachs, I still haven't got them on the damn car yet. They are still sitting in my garage. I plan on putting the rears on myself and taking the car down to have the fronts done. Soon though... soon... too much other crap got in the way like the Porsche needing more work, expensive dental work, and house crap that had to get taken care of.... but hopefully very very soon they'll be on then I'll have to bring the car down to your neck of the woods and show you.

Now the SLP isn't so loud that I am going to have the noise police on my tail will I? I don't need another reason for them to pull me over.

playerx4
09-06-2004, 11:19 AM
I have never been pulled over for my SLP, but I keep getting pulled over for my front window tint. The tint has to come off soon...

The reason I asked about the eibachs is because I was thinking of getting H&R springs and would like to install them myself with some help. Have you got any quotes from a shop to install the fronts?

Since both you want to hear the SLP we should set a time and place and meet up somewhere between you guys and me.

Its too bad we didn't have this conversation a week ago cause I was working in San Ramon all week. Next time if I know I'll be down that way I'll try to post so you can have a heads up.

And highwayprowlerz, what is your schedule during the week? I'm at LMC on Monday and Wednesdays and the other days I'm off working who knows where.

highwayprowlerz
09-07-2004, 12:07 PM
This week I am off today and tomorrow for my birthday (tomorrow) otherwise I work Monday through Friday until 5pm and usually home on the weekends.

As for the Eibachs, I have seen them on several newer and older GAs at meets and such and I think they lower the car just enough to look good, handle well, but not so low you straddle speedbumps (unless you are Don (GhettoSuperStar/LocoGA95) with his *** Eibach lowered 95 GA).

I've never gotten pulled over for my front tints but I only have 35% on the front windows.

Hey highwayprowlerz,

I just bought the SLP exhaust and it should get here by UPS ground on friday. Hopefully Antioch Muffler can put it on for me right away. I cant wait. I'll let you know once I get it on so you can hear it.

highwayprowlerz
09-15-2004, 07:39 PM
LOL! I just bought a SLP too. I should get mine next week. :) I have a friend with a welder and he is going to put mine on for me. Maybe I can talk him into doing two cars at once. Just a thought. But if you do get it on before I get mine, bring it on by or whatever. I'd love to hear it.

LukeD
09-17-2004, 08:04 AM
Hey that's cool. Thanks for the offer, it's really tempting. The only thing is, I'm not sure if I want to weld it on yet or just bolt it on. Do you know if it is bolted on weather it is prone to rattling or other issues even if done correctly? I'm pretty sure I will love SLP and not want to take it off, but if it turns out to be too loud, I may just put the muffler and tips up on the for sale forum and I could probably get a direct trade for a Magnaflow muffler. In that case maybe bolting is the way to go for me. Either way I'll let you know once I get it on. (Hopefully today.)

LukeD
09-19-2004, 04:00 PM
Well I just got it installed this weekend. I LOVE it. Especially when you rev and hear that crackle or when you cruise at about 30mph and just rumble down the street!

highwayprowlerz
09-19-2004, 04:42 PM
You have to bring it by sometime. Sounds like it's awesome. How much did you pay to get yours put on? I may just go and have mine put on by a shop instead of waiting for my friend. I get mine Tuesday.

highwayprowlerz
09-19-2004, 04:44 PM
And did you just have it bolted up with muffler clamps or what? I may just do it myself if that is all that was done.

LukeD
09-20-2004, 01:20 PM
Well I went to Midas but they wanted $150 just to bolt it on so I said nevermind and left. I got it installed Saturday so there wern't too many choices of where I could go (Antioch Muffler was closed). I ended up going to Gumaro's Auto Repair (near the Toyota dealership on Somersville). Gumaro looked it over and told me he could do it for $70. He told me it would be better to weld it though to prevent leaks or rattle in the future. I was still undecided but had them start putting it on. They did a good job putting it on and getting it aligned correctly. Anyway when it was all bolted on he brought me into the garage to let me hear it and he also showed me the rear view and pointed out that the clamps kind of showed too. (They dont really show unless you bend over to look though.) Anyway for another $40 they welded it on. So total install was $110. Not too bad but I think I may have been able to get a better deal if I had gotten an estimate for wealding from the start. I was happy though. They did a good job.

Its only been like 2 days, but ever since I got it installed, I notice a lot more heads turn when I drive through parking lots or people rev when next to me at a light.

highwayprowlerz
09-20-2004, 06:41 PM
Wow, that's a great price. I'll have to go there and tell them that I heard that you got a great deal getting yours put on and maybe he could hook me up too. I think I am going to go that route, my friend is pretty busy right now.

I get a lot of people revving me at the lights too but that was because of the body graphics and the neons. Now that the graphics are off the exhaust should bring back the attention I guess huh? We should meet up this weekend, sure would like to hear yours and maybe I'll get mine done too. I have to find someone to help me get on my ported UIM and LIM soon too.

Cool hey maybe we can meet somewhere in pittsburg wednesday evening between 6:00 and 6:30 or so, if you arn't doing anything. My class is right at LMC and starts at 7:00 so maybe we could meet around there.

Glad you are enjoying the SLP Luke  I paid $60 for my installation at a little muffler shop down here in Fremont. The guy put some spot welds on the pipes where they were just held down by clamps which is a plus. The slp will not rattle, but it does shake over bumps. Thats because of the stupid design to hold up the muffler with those rubber circle thingys  . Anyway I think we should all meet up and take some pics of our rides to represent the west coast! We are a minority on this board haha.

highwayprowlerz

Hey highway, I was reading in the for sale section that your selling your wheels and picking up some 18s. Are you getting the new rims anywhere locally, if so where? I've been looking into getting some 18's but all the rims I like have a +45 offset which doesnt work with GA's.

LukeD
09-21-2004, 12:53 AM
Cool, how about we meet over at the Mazzai Pontiac Delearship? We could meet there at the entrance at 6:00. I was going to take a look and see if they got any G6s in anyway. Let me know how that sounds. Or if 6:15 is better for you we could do that cause I think you said you get off work at 5:00.

Oh and playerx4, what is your schedule like? I might be in San Ramon one of these tuesdays and if you arnt working I could let you know and maybe we could meet up.

Luke, I'm pretty much available any time after 4 during the week. I have school till 2 then I do some work for my parents. Fridays I have no problem meeting up any time, except this upcoming friday I have plans.

highwayprowlerz
09-21-2004, 08:33 AM
I will be home by 5:30 today so between 6 - 6:15 is fine. LMC is a lot closer to my house though, that might be a better place. Let me know.

I am pretty much free any time after 5:30 every day and all day on the weekends.

LukeD

Cool hey maybe we can meet somewhere in pittsburg wednesday evening

I will be home by 5:30 today so between 6 - 6:15 is fine.

Sorry for the confusion. I wanted to make sure it was for Wednesday if that is still fine for you. LOL Dont want you coming back tonight wondering where I was :iconfused

Anyway we can meet at LMC. Hmmm lets see, they have the front parking lot torn up... Maybe what I'll do is I'll park so you can see me from the street in the LMC parking lot. Usually closer to the entrance is filled up so I may be out a ways. If I cant find a good spot I'll just cruise the parking lot. 6:15 sounds good then. See you there

BTW the GA is bright red so it shouldn't be too hard to spot.

highwayprowlerz
09-21-2004, 06:14 PM
Wednesday at 6 at LMC sounds good. My car is black with a bright orange stripe all around it so you can't miss my car either. So you want to meet right off Leland in the parking lot right? Don't worry, I'll find you.

LukeD
09-21-2004, 07:04 PM
Yeah somewhere in the front LMC parking lot. So orange stripe? Did you get rid of your Black Widow theme? I thought those web graphics were pretty cool.

highwayprowlerz
09-21-2004, 08:21 PM
Yeah, they were cool but I had them on there for a year and I didn't want them to ruin the paint anymore than it is... and I was ready for a change. The car still looks awesome.

And my SLP just got here via FedEx... YAY!!!!

SLP has a good rumble. Not ricy at all except maybe at certain RPMs when you first put it on then a couple thousand miles later it gets way deeper. LOL I drove by your house tonight and I reved my SLP pretty loud. It was about 11:30, dont know if you heard me or not.
