top speed

this question has probably already been answered, but i'll ask it anyway. what is the top speed for a stock 99+GAGT. if yours is faster then what is it and what did you do?:confused:

I have gotten my car up to 131-132 only if you put it in 3rd. If you have it in drive i think the govener kicks in at 114 or something close to that...

If i remember right my car topped out around 126 or 127.

I believe that GTs are goverened at 126 mph and SEs at 108 mph (or something very close to this). I've heard before that if you leave your GT in 3rd you can get passed this but I haven't ever tested it out for myself.

I'm not sure about the 3rd gear deal. However yes for a 99+ stock GAGT it is governed by a fuel shut off at 127. There are ways of removing the speed limiter. If removed the GA tops out at about 146 mph.

To be honest, I don't know if the govern is set at a specific speed or a rpm range. I've done both, leaving the car in Drive, and leaving the car in 3rd. Both ways I can reach 130. My highest seems to be 132. Around that area, with the rpms running where they are, the car pretty much decides to stop accelerating. Did it just the other night, but I'm not allowed to talk about it. Great race story, PM me if you want it. :D

The 99+ GT's are governed at 126mph. Your speedo might read 130 or 240. But it cuts out at 126. The reason being is that after 100mph the speedometer is not as acurate as it is below 100mph hence why it would read 130 or 150 etc. etc. As for the 3rd gear comment I don't see how it is possible seeing that at 115 mph my car, in 4th gear, is at like 3600rpm's.

With the ASE chip I got my car up to 142 under its own power
without a problem... then I decided that was fast enough :eek:

well my car topped out at 140 the other day so i got some NOSSSS so it should be higher now right????? :confused: LOL but seriously i got it up to 132 and didnt top out yet :)

On what roads are you people driving over 120 mph??? If you get pulled over - wouldn't you lose your license?

There is a part of the Garden State Parkway right after a toll plaza. There is only one spot between there and my exit about 2 miles that a cop can sit. Even if he does get you, I will be well off the exit by then. Also I beleive a cop car's govener kicks in at 124?

A guy in my town bought a state cruiser from an auction, he couldn't get that thing to go faster than 142 mph. It was a long US-2 in the U.P. He blew by a cop going the other way and the cop waved at him. He didn't have the car painted yet, it was still royal blue at the time.

*offtopic*They cut the wires for the lights and never took out the relays, even those wires are color coated! :thumbs:

I've done 126-130mph a few times. It took forever to get to 130mph. Infact, if it wasn't for the motivation behind me I wouldn't have done it. :D

I got a 2002 and I couldn't get it to go any faster then 120. I read that it's governed at like 126, but mine wouldn't go any faster then 120. I have a CAI, so that might be why, but other then that, its stock. I had it to the floor for like 4 miles, and nothing over 120. Oh well.
