View Full Version : Creaking headliner?

Hey Guys,

Saw a thread about this back in 2002, but no one ever posted a resolution, and it looks like I have the same problem.

Something creaks in my car when going over bumps or turning. AS near as I can tell, its my headliner. The doors used to do it but i greased the seals. I thought it was the sunroof, but regardless of whether its open or not, it does it. Applying pressure to the headliner / sunroof doesnt seem to help.

I got so frustrated today i pried down the headliner a bit and saw that the entire thing is backed by a Styrofoam-like substance. Seeing this made me realize that I would describe the creak I have as 'someone rubbing their finger on a coffee cup'. Therefore, I've convinced myself its the backing of the headliner rubbing against the paint somewhere.

Has anyone ever had this and have a quick solution that doesnt involve pulling the entire liner down? If not, and I have to pull the liner down, what can I do to stop it?

Any ideas appreciated
