I just purchased a Saturn from my sister. It's a nice car, but there is one problem thats driving my crazy! The first time I step on the gas, it doesn't compress easily; it doesn't go down at all until I press way too hard and I zoom away. It only does this the first time I take off, but it's anoying nontheless. Has anyone encountered this before? Is there anything I can do (besides taking it to the local repair shop and paying $$$$ to have someone slap some oil somewhere)? Thank you!

Well, for safety's sake, I would say that before you put the key in, you could just push the pedal down all the way once or twice to loosen it up and be sure it wont do anything bad to you.

You could always cover the general carpet area below the pedal and behind it and take a can of oil and put a few drops where the hinge is on the inside of the car. If that doesn't fix it, then it could be the throttle body spring mechanism needing some type of lubrication.

My 2 cents
