I have a 01 gagt 3.4 v6 obviously and it takes 20$ to fill so obviously its a small gas tank, i go through a full tank of gas in like literally 2 days..starting my car takes like .2 gallons everytime lol n sometimes my car turns off but fails to start...i thikn theres something wrong with my fuel pump...wen my car fials to start i think its not sucking enough gas and since its burning so fast i think after the car is started its sucking too much gas..

how many miles per tank can you drive

Yeah, we need more info, if you drive 100 miles daily, i would expect it.

If you are driving like 80 miles daily in city traffic, and you filled it completly and the tank is below 1/4 of a tank on that second day(140 miles), then you have issues because our cars shouldnt be running 12mpg.

Figure out your MPG, and post it so we can figure out the scope of the problem.

thats sucks i was making like 31 miles per gallon on my last trip to iowa, it was all highway driving, it was awsome, in the city here in st. louis, my mpg SUCKS maybe 15 - 18 but i also drive very hard. My car used to start funny before, sometimes not starting, but it hasnt done it for months (knock on wood)

ohh i totally forgot to mention, before you freak out, check your simple things like your air filter, costs ten dollars and takes two minutes to replace

might it have something to do with the o2 sensors ? i was told mine needed to be replaced but i haven't gotten around to it ( ever ) but if it would get me a few more miles it would def. be worth it.

I get right at 300-320 miles per tank.

humm maybe i should replace my o2 sensor... i have been testing.. it really seems to depend on where i buy my gas at.. those of you who get good mpg.. what brand of gas are you buying??

well lets see im exit 82 off the parkway. wen i goto pick my grandma up shes exit 63. so thats roughly 20miles to the exit then another 5-10 to her job.so 35mi. then 10back to parkway 45 then another 20 back to my exit 65, then another 10back to my house 75 oh ya and dont mention in the begining my house to parkway is 10 so thats rougly 85-90miles. then we can add 5miles driving to school, out to lunch, and home all together is about 5miles so thats like 95-100miles then driving around town add another 10-15miles so thats roughly 120miles when i gotta pick just my grandma up from work, when i pick my mom up too thats another 40miles added on. so were looking at 175miles a day. an god forbid if i turn my car off and then start it up, i loose like 2 lines on my gas gauge. if i have a full tank before i do all these things ill have less than a half tank left....

Dude, use your tripodometer and let us know how many miles you drive. None of this guessing crap.

Even if you traveled 175 miles per day, that'd be 350 miles to a tank in two days, which is good. That's about 28-30 mpg!!! During a city/highway mix I get 260 to tank. My best was 360 miles to a tank all highway.

It costs me $20-25 to fill the tank up.

If you're info is correct then you are fine...

i use citgo, shell whatever is around when i need to fill. oh and always 87. my 02 sensors are still stock too. with city driving i only get 21 mpg and then the highway is a different story

Just out of a curiosity, on the highway do you guys cruise it at 70, or go 75-80?

I have heard that locking it at 70 saves gas compared to 75?

tenny

i got 29mpg with about 70% highway, and some wide open runs from 0-60 mixed in there

on the highway i go about 65-70, definatly saves gas compared to going 75 or 80, the slower u are going the less it is reving.

True, the less it is revving, but it is revving for a longer period of time. It is hard to know the engine's most fuel efficient point of RPM, but usually the idea of air drag increasing exponentially with speed is what loses the MPG. I've seen people on the forums getting high 30's in mpg going in the 80's of mpg, i've seen threads about it, if you are curious i am sure they wouldnt be too hard to find

Uhh, I mean the 80's of mph, oops

I dont know the MPG on mine, but i only drive like .01 miles one way to work. Now that my girl bought a new NOX she always drives if we go anywhere. So I only gas up maybe once every 2 weeks. lol

09-26-2004, 04:55 PM
ahh 62 mph

2002AmSE
09-26-2004, 09:14 PM
.01 miles to work? wow, umm thats less than a block, wouldnt it be easier to just hoof it? It would be less than a minute, because the average human can walk .1 mile in 2 minutes.

I do a blend of city and highway, and drive like a bat out of hell most of the time, and I get 21.5-23 MPG, so you sound normal to me.. Best I've ever gotten on highway alone, though, was 28, and that was when the car was still breaking in. I'd wager it would do better, now.
