View Full Version : Geting the wire through the firewall
I am installing an oil pressure gauge and I can't get the wire through the firewall.
I tryed geting it through the rubber gromet but it will not go through. There is two of them but I can't get it through eather of them. Let me know how you guys got yours through there. Thanks

I am not real familar with the layout of the grand am as I just pulled the engine out of mine to rebuild it and thats the extent of what I have done/looked at. But if all else fails just drill a small hole threw the fire wall and silicone around the wire.

Drill a hole and insert the appropriate size grommet.
If not, a stiff steel coat hanger, cut and bent straight with the tip filed to a point will go through the big grommet thats there now.

Coat hangers are your best freind when doing wiring like this.

I went thru the grommet just behind the fuse box. When you do get a wire through, pull in a spare. You can use it to pull in any other wires that need to pass through the firewall.
