View Full Version : Stalling / SES light....

Hey guys, I've got a problem with my car. It's a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am GT with the 2.4 TwinCam, and the 4T60E transmission.

Lately, my car has started to run "differently".

On the highway if I am in third gear, when I take my foot off the gas, and then re-apply, I have to do so gradually... if I don't then the car will jerk a bit.

I also noticed that now when I do an emergency stop, or lets say, I'm hauling ass down the road and have to come to a complete stop.. my car will shudder in first gear and want to stall. There have been 1 or 2 times it has done this at a stop light.

Other than that, the SES light came on. As soon as the SES light came on, the car started to run a little better (before, it felt like it just didn't have the power it did before).

The car is tuned up well, it has new spark plugs as of 10k miles ago, new fuel filter, clean air filter, I also ran a decarb kit (that stuff from BG Chemicals) a while back.

Any idea?

I'm wondering if maybe there's something wrong with the TCC, or the VSS... but I'm not sure.

This car is OBD-2 and I don't have a reader... :(
