I want to change the color of the insert in the door (the "leather" piece)....but it looks like it is plastic welded in there.....does anyone know how to take this piece off??? I was thinking of breaking all the welded parts and just hot glueing it back in, but I am not sure if that is a good idea.......anyone help me!?!?!?
this is the part I am talking about
the part that goes into the speaker grill

I got a set of four door panels. I removed the inserts using a huge soldering iron (American Beauty 100 watt). I heated up the plastic while applying pressure on the insert. It may be easier to cut them off and reinstall with small screws and washers. Hot glue gun like you suggested might work too.
What are you planning to do once you get them off? I'm still trying to decide what would look good. I'm thinking a darker color but not sure if I want to dye it or replace the vinyl with something.

I am going to be doing a black vinyl.....I also have fiberglass plans for the door, so I will be incorporating the vinyl into that also
