I'm thinking about ending my lease early....what did you guys have to pay IF some of you ended your lease?

Best thing to do is try to sell the car to somone for what the value of the car is worth now (according to GMAC). If you can't do that, find a person to take over the payments until the end of the lease, they can then bring it back or buy it out. There is only a small transfer fee to do that.

Just ending the lease early will leave you with a stiff early termination penalty, best thing to is call GMAC and find out what that penatly will be for your car.

I heard that if you end your lease early, sometimes if you purchase another car from the dealership, they will waive most fees. That is assuming you are not way over on miles and the condition of the vehicle is good.

Exactly....

If you're just handing it in without a re-buy....The you have to pay all the remaining payments and a penalty. Mine would have been all the payment along with a $675 fine...

I chose to keep it

The dealers around here will wipe out up to 4 months early if your buying a new car. My freind just got out of his 2000 Z24 lease this month (lease is up next May) when buying a new Silverado 1/2 ton Crew. Still had to pay a penalty but they worked it into the monthly lease payment for the new truck.

Small fee? Try $595....

I did that with my last GA...a friend took over the lease, and to transfer it I had to pay the $595 transfer fee and the other guy had to be obviously approved for credit with GMAC also.

It's not just a GM dealer that will eat you remaining payments in a lease. I test drove a Mazda 6 a few months ago. The dealer offered to cover my last 6 lease payments if I bought the car. It would jumped on it at the time, but I had 18 months left on my lease. :thumbsdow

I have done this three times. Every time the dealer gave me a trade-in value for the car that was equal to the payout on the lease (GMAC will give them that number). No penalty. One lease had 6 months left on it, one had 2 years left and the third one was 18 months.
