Quick Question

When at a complete stop, it you turn your wheels left and right quickly, do you hear a knocking sound?

If I rock the wheel gently, I can hear a little bit of play, but its in the linkage to the steering box, not the rack. I checked it out good, everything tight on mine, so it must be down in the coulum some where. Been that way for 80k now, and its still ok, hasn't gotten any worse.

According to my dealer its the valves in the rack as it changes direction on centre. I guess they're right, it hasnt gottn any worse and its been like it for years, and there's no play anywhere else.

Yes mine does it too. I was at the dealer getting a new blower resistor and they were getting a GA ready that they had sold. I asked to get in it and play with the steering to see if it was the nature of the car, and sure enough it did the same thing. Only when you do it back and forth quickly.
