2000 GA SE passkey??

Ok so far you guys are kicking butt on this forum for answers, better than the F body guys so here goes.

Our new to us 2000 came with normal keys, not passkeys, does the 2000 have pass key? If it does mine must be bypassed.


Also the used car dude swore the radio was locked, but it has worked for us and
does flash when not on. ??

the 99+ GA's have passlock 2 not passkey, if you want to bypass it a DEI 555L should do the trick

OK how does passlock 2 work? A I said I have a plain (no chip no nothing) 100% brass key. Yet the car is starting just fine.

Passlock reads resistance value in the ign cylinder when attempting to start - if it matches correctly, BCM tells PCM to enable the fuel pump. Has nothing to do w/ the key really.

Oh so the resistance is now in the cylinder lock NOT the key like my trans am?
