View Full Version : Removing Fasteners
Do you need a special tool to remove the black plastic fasteners that hold the plastic piece above the head lights underneath the hood? Also, are the fasteners re-usable or are they not good anymore once you remove them? Where could I find replacement fasteners and does GM have a specific name or part number for them?
check auto stores for replacements, and no, there is no special tool
pull up the middle, that pin comes out, and pull out the rest
reinsert base, push pin back down
wear might get to em if you constantly remove them, see sentence one

A flat tip screw driver will help to get under them and pry them up.

Just don't try to remove them when it's cold outside, they'll snap in a heartbeat! Maybe that nice lady with the long fingernails illustrating how to remove the "speed" clips in the manual should've explained that. OH, and watch out for the retaining ring that holds the bulb in ... I barely touched mine and ALL the little plastic pieces inside broke out, rendering it useless.

Take a plier and just grab the little thingy and pull it out. I broke a lot of them by using the flat tip screwdriver. They are reusable, but if you break one, they are really cheap at dealers.
