Does anyone know how the trans shifts if you leave the pressure control solenoid disconnected on the 4T45E?

Someone correct me if i'm worng but if you cut power to the PCS then the tranny would just go to full line presure.

And that would hurt!

Yea, but if the trans was in limp home mode, it would be full line pressure anyway right? How can that be bad for the trans if all it does is make the clutches apply harder?

Because to hard will cause damage to them.

you dont want it slamming into gear, and you dont want it going into gear to soft.

All i was trying to say is you dont want full line pressure for every day driving, your tranny wont last long

In the trans. It limits line pressure based on how much current is applied to it. For instance it's what the auto trans intecepter uses to "firm" up the shifts. It uses a rheostat to limit the current the PCM sends to it.
