who likes the new Mini cooper?? i think they are just a novelty much like the pt cruzer. i'm sure they will sell like a spreading wildfire for a while, but how long will that last. i'll admit, i think they are really neat looking, but i'd never be caught dead owning one. its probably made of cheap parts like the pt cruzer is made of mostly neon parts.

I think the new Mini Coopers look like modern clown cars. The old ones were kewl because they handled better than anything in Europe due to weighing around 1300lbs. CHEAP parts?!!! They're made by an offshoot of Land Rover, so the parts are high quality, but high cost.

I think they are kinda cool. They aren't that quick but I am sure they would be fun to drive. The interiors are neat.

I think they are kinda cool looking also! I didn't realize until a few months ago that Mini is a division of BMW. And now for the Mini Cooper S specs (for those interested):
163HP Supercharged 1.6L 4 Cylinder Engine
6-Speed Getrag Manual Trans
16x6.5" Alloy w/195/55R-16 Run Flat Rubber
Bonnet Scoop Air Intake
Top Speed 136 mph
0-60mph 6.9 seconds
Not to shabby for a lil car like that.

They are not part of land rover. They are part of BMW. My wife has ordered a Cooper S. Been on the waiting list since March. I had a chance to test drive one. It's quicker than a GA GT and will out handle a Porsche! Took one to a parking lot to test it out, and it will do a complete doughnut in about the area of four parking spaces! (35' turning radius) Oh and how about:
Heated seats, leather interior
Xenon interior lighting & headlights
All-Season traction control
Driver, passenger,side-impact, and head protection (total of 6!) airbags
Multi-link rear suspension
8 speaker harmon Kardon stereo
rain sensing wipers
GPS navigation system
I would'nt call it a fad, more like a cult! Comparing it to a PT Cruiser is like comparing a Z3 roadster to a neon.

Personally I'd put em in the same class as the PT Cruiser/Aztec/Vibe, etc.......pathetic. Wouldn't be caught dead in one.

They are surprisingly roomy on the inside as well.

awesome little car and nobody mentioned that all that performance and luxury for about 20-22 thousand not to bad and under no circumstances should the mini be compared to a pt crusier or the vibe! This car also has many many performance up grades like chips that will up the boost on the sc and put this thing in the low 14s 1/4 range so watch out!:)

yeah and a smaller pulley on the sc can net you quite a bit of extra power also. It would not surprise me to see 200+ hp out of a mini with very little work (and no n2o)

I have to disagree with putting the Mini in the same class as the PT/Aztec/Vibe as the Cooper has a true heritage, much like the 350Z and Beetle, also the Cooper S is a true enthusiast car: great hadling, fair amount of power(with good potential),quirky yet good looking. And when you get right down to it, the new Mini is a BMW, which means great engineering and near flawlees fit and finish, something you definately cant say about a Dodge

I like the Mini Cooper as much as I like the Aztek, PT Cruiser and the unforgettable AMC Gremlin:vomit:

I saw a woman at a gas station the other day with humongous (5" at least) driving lights on one, and I thought "what the heck do you need those for? That thing never leaves the pavement!" To each their own. I haven't sat in one but being a Beamer I'm sure the interior is beautiful. Oh, BTW, how are they selling? I've only ever seen two on the road.
