I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a good (and honest) mechanic in the DFW area, especially if they're familiar with the Grand Am GT, or with the 3.4L engine? I'm not looking for someone who just does fluids/brakes etc, but someone who's good with the engine etc.

North East Dallas or Irving are prefered, but if they're honest, and do great work, I don't mind driving.

Or, if you know of a GM dealership in the area that does particularly good work, that would be helpful too.

I'd really appreciate any suggestions that anyone has.

PS. .also do window tinting, Stereo install, fiberglass anything interior & exterior work.. paint interior pieces ..etc All in the garage.

All out of garage right now.

I'll be gone for 3 weeks going back home to New Orleans, Louisiana for christmas and new years. Will be back on the Jan 11th. Tuesday in dallas.

I got the Snap-On ShopKey program which is what dealers and shops use that tells ya all the specifications, How to change the part, diagnoise problems. I got that program which normally costs 3grand.. I got it for a deal.

If you're willing to drive to Houston to get your car worked on I'd be happy to help.

I'm an ASE Master Certified tech and GM trained and certified. I work at a Chevrolet dealership and am all too familiar with these cars. They're evil little bastards..

Good to know.. I need to change my thermostat.. how much if I supply the part?

I hope it is because at times, the tempeture needle will read cold and the car has been on the road all day. Someone said it could be the sending unit too, i hope not.

Ron at the Pep Boys in Grand Prairie off pioneer. he is the service mgr.. really honest and knowledgeable.... he is the one that helped me remove the stud out of my heads when one broke off......as far as stealerships... stay away from McDavid... go to Buzz Post..... but Ron is way better!

as far as exhaust shops......talk to Doug at Advanced Exhaust in Duncanville!
