had my diver side go out twice, and passenger once...all three in the two years I owned a '99 Alero....the second time the driver side pooped out I just didn't even bother fixing it, sucked not being able to go through a drive through though

what are the symptoms?

rolling up crooked, scratching sounds...you'll know it when it happens...what usually happens (according to the gm tech guy) is that the track that is used breaks and the it burns up the motor trying to move the window up and down a broke track

retard thing is...the track is a 75 cent part...motor $200....PUT A BETTER QUALITY TRACK ON IT.....but, oh well....

well, the second time when i rolled it up all the way it was a pretty loud pop/crack. then every time i tried to roll it down after that it would start to grind then. then i just stopped touching it and got it fixed.

the first time mine went out (drivers side - 7 months after I bought the car) it had some symptoms... this time, none at all. I just went out to the car a week ago or so and it was dead.. :(

Yup, the window motors/regulators on GM vehicles SUCK AZZ!!! Unreal! I have an 02 GAGT, and I have replaced BOTH the driver's and passenger side window motors and regulators 4 or 5 times, NO JOKE! I've, knock on wood had NO problems with the car, EXCEPT for the damn windows! I just ran out of warranty, and I seriously considered buying it JUST for the windows. I don't anticpate having the car beyond 50k miles, so I didn't bother getting it.... Do they make aftermarket regulators that work better than the crappy GM ones???
