Just a few months ago, I purchaced a 2001 Grand Am. After the first heavy snow at my college, the heat and ac decided to not work anymore. I found a fuse for the high fan blower was blown, and I replaced it, but now all that works is the highest setting, and it makes this loud noise when its on. The car is still under warranty, but I would like to know what you guys have to say.

What happens at the lower settings? No motor movement at all? I might be the switch that's gone bad ... i'm not an expert, but maybe some others have some ideas.

no motor movement at all. My roomate seems to think that the coils that control the fans have burned out because we get this really weird smell that comes out of the vents instead.

Your blower resistor is toast. Search for replacement instructions. The loud noise is likely debris in the blower fan cage. (Leaves, twigs, etc.)
