I doubt 3000 GA owners will buy ANY kit. There are probably less than 3000 kitted GA's out there.
sidenote: best kit starts with an A and ends with a D...... hint for the slower folks on the boards... it's NOT AnDy's. lol

I find it amusing that so many people love how the hotwheels kit looked, and the RKsport kit is almost the same thing. Everybody loved the RKsport kit b4 it came out too, and now people are hatin'. I bet if the hotwheels kit got made you'd all start ripping on it too. You guys are just a bunch of cry babies. That's why no one else wants to make a kit for grand am's, deal with it!

The kit is fine except for the front bumper... If I wanted a couch for a front bumper I would just mount one myself... I bet you could take lay flat on the front bumper of the rksport kit

Looks just as big too me. Anyway it's a picture, if someone could take a RK front end and stick it next to GM's Hot Wheels concept (the real car and in person, not a chop) then I'd believe that there's a difference.

Rk vrs hotwheels vrs SC/T man give it a break
Look I have the RK kit too When I got it I was saying to myself man this is long but after after I got everything on the way I wanted it it turned out to look just as good as anyother good lookingkit on other cars. The thing is you have to see it in person.
Also if you have had a chance to see one as close up as I do the bumper is really no longer than the kit that is shown in these pictures. Its the nostrals that make it look longer between the 2 I would rather have the nostrals in the pics as well but I still like my kit all the same

None of these focking morons have ever or will ever see a RK kit up close. So they like to go around thinking there is a huge difference.

And one last thing about the RK kit that I noticed.... they make 18's look tiny. If I was ever given the kit, i'd have to upgrade to 19's first.

I got to park my car three spaces down from the Hotwheels car at the Pontiac Nationals at National Trails Raceway. I had more people come to my car and ask if it was the concept car. The kit looks great. I like the Hotwheels kit but it looks almost the same as my RK kit. Look at the kit, the only front bumper difference is the nose inlets have no mesh and are molded inward somewhat. The distance it stickes out is the same, the angle it slopes down from the headlights is the same. In fact GM and RK work together on a lot of projects and I was told that they had time one on one with the HW car to modle there kit off of. (since RK now does some of concept work for GM). However you look at it the kit is 94% the same thing as the HW car. It is made out of a better material and everything, some people just can't stand it because they can't have it.

All those people who say the rksport kit is too long or have fitment issues obviously haven't seen one in person or installed one. Why don't you guys try listening to someone who has the kit instead of forming your own misguided opinions that have no basis in reality? You think the nose is too long? What about the Andy's kit? It sticks out just as far. However the Andy's kit sticks out in a line across the front under the headlilghts, where as the rk kit is a curving slope like the nose of an F-body. How can you say the rk kit is like a shelf?!? You have no focking clue what you are talking about.
I've seen and taken pic's of every kit made for our cars up close, and I spent a lot of time researching, studying, and ASKING OTHER'S WITH THE KITS ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCES WITH THEM, before I made a decision on which kit was going on my car. You think the rk and the hot wheelz kit are so different? Here's some eduducation for you...
...wow, ya know those look almost exactly alike except for a slight difference in the shape of the nostrils... imagine that.

Personally, I think the best front every made for this car was on the american racer concept. I'm sure a few of you remember this kit... and some of you newbies probably never heard of it. You'd rather just cry that no one makes a kit you like. I wish they had made this kit too, but I wasn't going to wait forever just to have it not get made, so instead of crying about it I choose the kit I liked best. Here's a reminder of what it looked like....
Best thing about this kit was the large central opening that would have been perfect for an intercooler. :metal:

That was a very nice kit, and I like the hood too. Looks like the sc/t hood without the dip between the scoops.

ya know you would think with all the talk about the americn tuner grand am some kit manufacturor or God forbid GM would pick up the fact it would be a hot item and would prolly sell like crazy. I know that I for one would be saving every penny to get one. So why not start forwarding some of the threads where everyone says how much they like the AT kit to someone who can make them! Ok well now that I have got that off my chest Im sure Ill get ripped apart for this. But o well lol.

Not 'ripping' you apart, but I don't understand why people keep thinking GM should make any aftermarket accessory for this car. They're stopping production on it. Even if they did, how do you reason a kit from GM 'selling like crazy'? There are hundreds of thousands of GA's out on the road, there are a few thousand members of this forum. Of those few thousand maybe 200 would buy the kit. How will GM make tons of money off of that?
People need to face the fact that these are not 'tuner' cars. Sure it may look like that around here because the average age of members is in the low 20s. But for ever 18-25 year old member of this site with a GA there are 2 or 3 GAs on the road driven by people who could pass for your parent or grandparent. And they sure as hell don't want a body kit.

I agree with 02andahalfgt. There is not enough demand to warrant GM making a body kit for our cars. He's also right about our cars not being "tuner" cars. I figure that most of us like not owning a car like a civic because everyone has one, but in reality, every single one could look and perform different because of the demand and number of people that want parts for that car. Personally, the one thing my GA has going for it is that it's not a car that is as easily modded as a civic...making it more fun because of the challenge. GM just makes most of their cars for the average american...but today I was thinking that they are missing out on tons of money in the aftermarket parts business because they only want to make a car, sell it, and hope they never have to see the buyer again. It's a shame to say that, but it's the reality of things folks.

Good points. GM tries to appeal to the younger, tuner crowd with the Cavalier and Sunfire. But they've always been after the more established car buyer. They want someone older, wiser and who has well established credit to buy their cars becuase they believe they'll get you to buy from them again in the future. They don't go out of their way to target high school and college kids because most don't have good credit at that point in their life (college kids are taking it up the ass with student loans) and they don't have enough experience keeping a budget. **Keep in mind I said most not all so don't anyone reply crying that you're 18 and pay for everything yourself. I really don't care if you do or not, good for you.**
OT: Matt, where in Catonsville do you live? My uncle lives on Whitfield Rd. Seems like a nice little area.

What's wrong with the essays?! They are all valid points. You've only been member here for a couple of months, if you knew more about this site then you'd know that group buys involving high $ items usually fizzle out without the required amount of people being met.
Again, it goes back to the important things, regardless of price has anyone actually seen IN PERSON the work that these people do? No. Then if anyone has any intelligence they're not going to send thier money to these people sight unseen. There are already 3 established builders out there offering us kits.
Don't be cheap, you get what you pay for.
