View Full Version : Oil pan removal

Ok I just read 13 pages of search results and I didn't really find anything useful, does anyone have some instructions on removing the oil pan?
In about 1 1/2 months I'll need to drop & tap the oil pan for a return line and would like to have a better idea of what I'm getting myself into :)
edit: See post 5

The answer to your question is here, 2003 GM ESI (http://www.sourcenet.ca:9001/servlets/Home), under engine mechanical-3.4L. Looks like a pretty involved procedure.

It sucks balls. For me, I had to remove 1/3 of the subframe to remove it.

Thanks for the link, I was using one from n-Body but it was kind of dated. That looks like a tremendous amount of work. But for boost, I think it will be worth it, just looks like I might need to schedule a little more time

Ok after thoroughly reading those instructions, is there another way to tap the oil pan without removing it? I found this article (http://www.superchargersonline.com/content.asp?ID=30), is this a safe way to do it? I think this is the way I saw it done on Horsepower TV a few weeks/months ago.

Horse power TV makes everything look easier than it really is.
