I just found out we bent a second rim on a pothole. Another $215 spent on this car (price is from Ebay for a new one).

You suck at driving.....or you hit a really big hole...or both lol

They are aluminum alloys.

Seriously though, this is my 3rd car. The previous two saw most of their miles in Pa (pothole heaven) and this is the first car I've ever had this problem with. Of course, this car has been one problem after another, but that's another story.

Even the Ford Escort tiny rims never bent on me.

yeah, i hear ya....after i bent my first rim i just bought new aftermarket rims all together. my philosophy is when a stock part fails, replace it with a better quality aftermarket part....ie ROTORS.

The bend is on the lip.... pretty bad. The weight fell off too.

I am hoping that the integrity of the rim is still OK and that the damage is simply cosmetic. Probably not though.

I was told that a bent rim can cause flat spots in tires... well, the tires have 30K on them so if in the next 10K miles, flat spots develop, big deal... the tires will be due for a change then anyway. However, I also was told that if the rim is bent, they can't be aligned... so that would cause me to need new tires faster.

I'm taking it to a trusted shop tomorrow to have them look at it. If it can be aligned, I'll take it somewhere else (national chain) because I have a 1 yr guarentee on the previous alignment.

Thats what I did too....but seeing how too much **** started to break, and there was NO performance aftermarket part for it, I just traded it in for something with a real aftermarket....see sig lol

As soon as more of the loan (which was upsidedown to begin with) gets paid down, or someone steals my car (gap insurance!!), I'll be buying a mini-SUV.

Family is larger than when I bought this, and it is just lacking space. I am leaning towards the Ford Escape, and will probably never buy another GM product in my life.

Got some good news...

I reported the pothole through the VDOT website, and included the result of my wife hitting it. Two things happened...

First, the pothole was fixed the same day I reported it, and two, I was given information from the local office on how to be reimbursed for the repair expense.

I bent a rim on a pot hole, turned the lip over and looks pretty bad. But I've been driving on it for over a year now without a problem.
