Here is an excerpt from the Detroit Free Press regarding the new Malibu. As you know, the new Epsilon Platform the Malibu uses will also be the platform the Grand Am is built on.

http://www.auto.com/industry/gm14_20021114.htm

"The Pontiac Grand Am will come in three body styles: a sedan, an aggressive-looking coupe with small rear-hinged back doors and a convertible with a retractable hardtop. Optional equipment will include a new high-output V-6, six-speed manual transmission and all-wheel-drive. GM expects the new Grand Am to outsell the current model; about 200,000 of them have sold each year."

Very Nice! I want one!

Hmm, we have to wait til late 2004 ? I guess I better take good care of my GA til then. Also, it mentions a 3.5L . Could this be the the engine from the Intrigue rated at 215hp ?

The release dates I've heard about are model-year 2005 for the sedan, 2006 for the coupe and 2007 for the convertible...

I thought it was '05 for the couple/sedan and '06 for the convert?

Maybe I'm wrong...

I cannt stand those stupid little rear hinged doors. They are useless on the Saturns and I feel they ruin the look of the car.

yea but if there are 2 suicide doors on the car my insurance counts it as a 4 door

Those are sweet looking trucks. The problem is they are'nt all that fast. Sure they do more "truck" stuff then those other performance trucks, but when it comes down to the performance end of it they will get their butts handed to them stock to stock.

The wife may be in the market for a new
GAGT by 2005. That would be cool if GM
has a HO V6 and/or AWD as new options.

Hopefully they will keep the price down.
Once really nice thing about the GAGT is
that you can usually find them for $20K.
(And it is a great car for the money.)

OoooOooOoo....270-280HP 2.8 V6....but a fully loaded coupe/convertable at 33-35K? Holy crap, my 2003 GAGT (not the GT1, but oh well) retailed at only 21K (before rebates, GM discount). 33-35K, thats..a definate "ow" on the wallet!

You want pics, just look at the G6 and water it down some.

33-35K is true too. Thats for a loaded conv. AWD 2.8L V-6, but I wouldn't spend 33K on a grand am no matter how good it is. They are looking to sell 200-250K a year, so I'm only guessing that they might re-think the pricing unless they want the car to bomb. Doesn't make any sense when you could buy a GTO for under 40grand when this GA comes out.

You've seen the 4.4L V-8 they want to drop in the Grand Prix? If they do make a V-8 GP, you would be able to slap a s/cer on there and make over 400hp. Now thats something to think about.
