so im drivin home from work today and my low fuel light had been on for about 20 miles now, i stop at the gas station to fill up and i could only fit 12.4 gallons in my tank.

correct me if im wrong, but doesn't a GT tank hold 16 gallons, meanin that i would have had about 50 miles of so left to go. Ive read that people will only push it around 30 miles whenever the light comes on. I find it weird that my low fuel light had been on for 20 miles and i still had that much gas left

faulty sensor or something????

I think the manual says 14.5 gallons.

My low fuel light comes on at 12.5 gallons. Maybe you were heading uphill or down hill giving you the light a little early.

I have completely run out of gas and come to a complete stop at 16.5 after the light comes on. I don't know if this helps you, just trying to give you some exp.

I think he means 16.5 gallons. Right now im testing my tank since it was on the e line. bad news if it does run out, all my friends with cars are gone this week.

You could look in your owners manual and carry a can on gas.

I think our gas tank is something like 13.4 gallons according to manual.

aight, well according to the owners manuel it says that a GT tank holds 15 gallons. I do have a lot of hills around but i figured that the light would eventually go off when i got back on flat surface. But even when i was leaving work today, after the car had sat for 5 hours, i started it on a flat surface and the light came on right away

14 gallons filled my dry, dry empty, lights been on for 60 miles, tank on my SE. Car wasn't stumbling yet, but the gauge was BELOW the E line. I was changing the fuel filter the next day, so I figured I'd get all the crap off the bottom of the tank, then change the filter.

My owner's manual is beside my computer and says 14.1 Gallons/53.4 litres. The fuel guage on most cars is designed to show you are getting low on gas well before you will actually run out so hopefully you'll be close enough to a station to fill up before it happens.

Keep in mind the tank holds 14.1 gallons itself. That doesn't include what you can squeeze into the filler neck after the pump shuts off. Topping off the filler neck is not a good idea unless you are immediately going on a trip though.

faulty sensor or something????The '99 GAGT gas tank holds 15.2 gallons. Later models had the gas tank shrunk to 14 gallons. :)

yeah usually after a good amount of driving with the light on itll take anywhere from 13.5 to 14.1, i scared myself when it takes 14.1 cause i thought thats how big the tank was, that was close

My car has 2 gallons left when the light turns on, and I usually don't drive more than 20 miles gently before filling it, but I have gone 30 miles and had the gauge below the E(past the last mark) and it filled 13.5 gallons. My manual for the SE says 14.1 gallons.
