I need to replace the housing as well as the socket. Now the socket is connected all the way up to the wires behind the tailights. What's the easiest way to replace it?

are you asking about the ones in the taillights or the lower ones in the bumper?

Yeah what do you mean? Which ones?
If your talking about the ones in the bumper then you can get them at the dealer for $19 apiece and ya just unscrew the old and screw in the new. I just replaced both of mine not even a week ago.

I am talking about the corner ones in the bumper. How do you replace the socket though? It's connected all the way up to the back of tailights.

Im confused.
All that holds them in is 2 self threading nuts. Thats it.
Unscrew them. The light comes right out. Screw in the new.
Thats it.
It took me more time to jack up the rear end than it did to change the housing.

Just cut the wires and splice in the new ones.

You are talking about the housing. I am talking about the socket that holds the bulb. You will notice that socket wire goes up to the tailight through the wire loom. I guess the only way is to splice it.

I wonder what Pontiac was thinking when they decided to put those corner reverse lights on rear bumper. The bulb isn't big enough and the location is to low to help you with anything when you go in reverse. And if you have 4 white lights on at the same time, it looks like an ambulance. I am gonna take Dave's advice and tint it or mod it in some way.
