Good Morning!

I had a rebuilt alternator installed on Jan.26th/05. Yesterday the car died and the shop says it needs another alternator..but they now say it also needs a new battery!!!! What are the chances the rebuilt alternator they put in damaged my battery? If the alternator undercharged/overcharged...isn't that likely why my battery is now needing replacement? Would anyone(other than me) be responsible for this?

I bought a new AC Delco battery October/02.

I look forward to your opinion.

If your alt died, then the car ran off the battery power, this messing up the plates enough to not hold a charge from being completly drained. I killed an Optima Redtop from that.

^I agree. Every battery I killed was due to alternator failure. In your case, the new alternator couldn't handle the strain of charging a bad battery.

Would anyone(other than me) be responsible for this?

No. This falls into the '"it" happens' category.

It turns out that my battery is "fine" after charging it! The employee from last night was trying to rip-me-off. (his boss said that but in different words) I appreciate knowing it could happen...but so thrilled that it didn't happen to me! :)
