Well, its not my car but heres what i got. ITs a grand am 99+

Problem : Wont rev past 3500 rpm in any gear.

Checks: Motor replaced, problem occured on previous motor.
PCM replaced and flashed.
Map, Maf, Iac, CKP, CMP, TPS all checked out all right.
Fuel delivery and volume is fine. Injectors ohmed all right.
Ignition Module checked out fine.
Egr is fine.

Basically many parts were checked, and replaced with good known parts and nothing is working. OH and another thing, all the PCM grounds were checked and are fine and there Is no CEL.

Any ideas. please contact me asap.
We've had teachers that have worked for GM trying to figure this out, and nothing. If you need more info. I have it.

What happens when it hits 3500, does it stall, die, sputter, start to rev limit or what?

Neutral safety switch on the tranny??? Maybe this switch is gone and the PCM thinks the car is still in park or neutral even though its physically in gear. This would cause the REV limiter to kick in at that RPM.

Yes it's definetly an electronic problem. Try to take off the traction control, and see if it lets your rpm go past 3,500.

My car will not go above 3,500 in gear with the traction control on either.

I would definately check out that tranny neutral safety switch, man it would suck if you went through all that because of a broken $2 switch.

If the engine starts knocking real bad and bogging down at those RPMs, replace your cat. Its a common failure on late model N and W body vehicles.

it wont rev past 3500 it doesnt die or sputter, the rev limiter kicks in. Ill make sure to tell him to check it without the traction button off, then we'll check the pns switch. Ill get back to you within this week. THnx again
