hey i was just wondering if anybody else had this problem.. i have a 99 grand am gt and about 90% of the time i go to turn the volume down with the knob on the dashboard it gets louder instead of getting quieter.. and someone else i know had a grand am and that happened to them too.. has anyone else ever experienced that in their grand am or is it just a coincidence?

I have a Kenwood so I don't have that problem, but the truck I have for my business does the same thing, a 97 Ram...

Common problem with the AC Delco decks in our GA's & Sunfire GT's of that era.
Good thing I have the steering wheel controls option.
I heard you can take off the volume knob & spray electrical contact cleaner into the area behind the volume knob/stick that goes into the deck.
Sometimes it works better, if you turn the volume knob slowly.

I had that problem, you could never win, no matter which way you turned it. I just bought a new one, thats how I fixed it.

It's best to pull out and turn on the knob. It seems to work for me.
