Pontiac resurrects performance cars
Thursday, September 26, 2002 (long time back... but interesting!)
GM is struggling, however, with giving the green light to the hit of this year's auto show circuit, the Pontiac Solstice roadster. The public and trade press adored the concept version of the car that Lutz placed on a fast development track in four months.
Myers is clearly anxious to add the Solstice to Pontiac's portfolio while acknowledging the challenges to doing so.
"You have to keep the price down, you have to have the right kind of architecture and the right price. It's not quite baked," Myers said.
The man who heads GM's advanced vehicle design team believes the go-ahead for the Solstice is not far off.
"We're within spittin' distance," said Mark Hogan, group vice president for advanced vehicle development.

Seems like things are moving in the right direction. It seems like the GM juggurnaut, as quick to manouver as the Seawise Giant (http://www.port-aransas.k12.tx.us/icons/MISC/tanker.jpg), is finally micrometering in the right direction!
