go to a parts store and get some molding tape, it is a grey double sided tape usually with red backing, usually around $5 US for a roll of it, just like what the factory uses. I've used the stuff made by 3M and Scotch, both work great.

Are those tapes you used pretty strong? I have heard some people have problems with moldings coming off.

definately, I've used the same tape to fix the molding on a grand am as well as to attach the scoops on the hood and sides on my own car. It didn't come off on it's own, I had to pry like hell and use adhesive remover to get the scoops off this winter to repaint them. Oh yea, be sure to clean the paint and old stuff off really good otherwise it won't stick well, ususally you can get away with rubbing alcohol to get it clean enough to stick.

I may be wrong, but I think they're talking about the 3M Exterior mounting tape. That stuff is da shiznit! I don't think it's the same as what is holding on the stuff from the factory, but I do know that the exterior mounting tape works very well holding on my Grills and is able to withstand the pressure of 130+ mph winds. :)

exactly, you got the stuff. It's not exactly the same as factory, but it IS the same stuff a body shop will use to reattach it if they are replacing side molding, thats where I got my last batch from, they get it in huge rolls.

Well what exactly is the one from factory? Maybe dealers have them? I am sure my bodyshop used some decent tape, but the molding is kinda loose right now.

What does age really have to do with this?

well hes 66 and owns a 200 grand am, so either hes 6,666 yrs old, or he found a good deal on a prehistorical grand am.

I want to replace that ridged cladding with something smooth. Any suggestions?
